Georgia and Rowan first met at White Water World where they were both working as lifeguards.

When they first met, Rowan noticed that Georgia was easy going, confident, and totally unpretentious.
Georgia thought Rowan was a little mysterious. He kept his personal life to himself, and wasn’t on social media.

A few years later, when they began to spend time together outside of work with mutual friends, they realised that there was some chemistry between them. In front of the Wave Pool after work, Rowan asked Georgia out on a date.

The couple’s first date was to see Ocean Alley play at the iconic Tivoli. They shared their first kiss during the crescendo of Rowan’s favourite song, as confetti cannons showered the crowd. It was the perfect first date.

Fast forward to 2024, and the couple celebrated their decision to marry with a beautiful ceremony at Sirromet Winery, Mount Cotton. Amongst the rolling, green hills, wallabies, and lily filled lagoon, the couple said, "I do."

With music being important to the couple, they hired singer/guitarist, Jason, for both the ceremony and reception. As Georgia stepped out onto the aisle to walk towards Rowan, Jason sang a single word, "Georgia" which goosebumped each and every one of the guests. The Stephen Sanchez song was the perfect fit for such an entrance.

Georgia looked absolutely stunning in a long sleeved dress with a sheer, appliqued top and a plunging back. Her fair hair was swept into a simple and classic bun, and a long veil was fastened beneath this.

Her maid of honour, Joanna, wore a satin sage green dress, and both carried bouquets of bright natives featuring proteas.

Rowan and his brother looked dapper in 3 piece suits, shiny shoes, and bouttonieres.

We spent considerable time back and forth to create a script for the ceremony, with plenty of sentiment and a few laughs, and watching the video back, the tale of the couple's story reflected that investment.

Georgia wrote, "Your presentation style was exactly what we wanted and made the ceremony feel very true to who we are."

Thanks so much for sending some beautiful photos, Georgia and Rowan, I enjoyed reliving your joyous wedding day.

News that King Charles will visit Australia later this week has brought back a few memories from a previous royal visit. Back in 1983, in another lifetime when I was still a school girl, a group of 9 of us were chosen to dance at the Sydney Opera House for Charles and Diana.

It was super exciting for us, and certainly the biggest crowd we had performed to, with thousands of people crammed onto the steps of the Opera House forecourt, and the event being televised across the country. My neighbour, being the proud new owner of a VCR, recorded the event from the telly. We didn't have phones with cameras back in the day, so I took no photos myself.

The nine of us wore lycra unitards, hand dyed by our art teacher to resemble a sunrise, with indigo at the ankles, fading out then recolouring to blush on the wrists.

That was over 40 years ago, and us girls are all now grown ups, most with children of our own, a couple even grandmothers.

I'm not sure the nation isn't ready to see us in unitards these days, and we probably can't do so many dance moves without pulling a hammy, but I reckon we should all get together again and put on a performance for the royal visit. If only we had thought of this in advance, so we could have more time to rehearse and diet!

Married at Rainforest Gardens, Mount Cotton

Jodee and Harry first met at high school, and started dating on the first September. Six years later, on the first of September 2024, the couple married at Rainforest Gardens, Mount Cotton.

Harry wore a pale blue checked jacket with a white shirt and chinos. His grandfather (what an adorable idea) and brother, as groomsmen, wore the matching blue checked trousers, with white shirts.

The totally cute flowergirls wore steel blue dresses, with Olivia scattering flower petals, and Darcie carrying a sign which read, “Here comes Auntie Jodee”. Bridesmaid, Britt, also wore steel blue, in a slinky fitted dress.

Jodee walked in to the ceremony space with both her mum and her dad. She wore a fitted dress with a lace plunging bodice and a fitted satin skirt. Her blond hair was in curls.

The ceremony arbour was constructed by tradie, Harry, and decorated with white flowers and green foliage.

Being an unseasonably warm day, the couple and their guests were glad of the shade on the deck at Rainforest Gardens. High atop Mount Cotton, the outlook was to the Bay and islands. As an added bonus, the freshly shorn Alpacas were roaming free on the hillside.

After their short and sweet ceremony, the couple mingled with guests and captured some memories with photographer, Jess.

Elope to Brisbane with 20 of your crew!

Gemma and Brad decided that they wanted something a little different for their wedding. They decided on Brisbane for their wedding destination, and as they live interstate, hired the team from Elope Brisbane to plan their ceremony for them.

The couple chose the Twenty is Plenty package, which includes celebrant, photographer, ceremony styling and cupcakes. They chose the Palm Tree Lawn at Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha for their ceremony, and were so glad of the shade and privacy provided by the lush foliage.

Gemma and Brad, and 24 of their closest friends and family, all flew to Brisbane for the destination wedding. They stayed at Royal on the Park in the centre of the city. Gemma and her bridesmaids, wearing terracotta, made their way to the Botanic Gardens after getting glammed up at their hotel. Waiting at the gardens were Brad and his groomsmen, wearing three piece black suits. The girls carried bouquets in a burnt orange palette. Emma walked down the path on the arm of her dad to "Turning Page" by Sleeping at Last. Gemma looked dainty in a simple white satin dress with a full train. A long veil was clipped underneath her bun.

The couple wanted a low-key, personalised and memorable ceremony, and we exchanged ideas to create a script which was exactly to their liking. The couple read their vows to each other off-mic in an intimate moment.

After the ceremony, the guests blew bubbles to celebrate the marriage, which also added a feature to the wedding photos. After some group and family photos, the bridal party took the opportunity for some fun shots around the gardens as the guests were transported by coach back to Brisbane city. Gemma and Brad took advantage of the varying landscapes in the gardens for some couple portraits, then were chauffeured to a riverside bar for drinks overlooking the city lights.

To top off the wedding celebrations, all the guests boarded a cruise ship the next day for a relaxing north Queensland tropical cruise. What an epic way to celebrate a wedding!

September wedding at Redland Bay Golf Club

After planning their wedding for months, Ashlee and Jack were disappointed when rain was forecast for their wedding day. Their venue, Redland Bay Golf Club, has a great backup ceremony option, where couples can have their ceremony on the covered deck of the golf club, with a view out over the golf course, but Ashlee and Jack were really hoping that their ceremony could be held on the lawn.
On the morning of their wedding, scattered showers swept over Brisbane, but luckily for them, Redland Bay remained dry, so their garden wedding could go ahead as planned.

Ashlee and her three bridesmaids, wearing terracotta coloured dresses, arrived at the venue, and were greeted by Chelsea, the functions coordinator. Chelsea ensured that all the bra straps were tucked in and bouquets were held low, then after signing a thumbs up to me to start the music, sent the bridesmaids down the path to the arbour. Ashlee followed them, looking just gorgeous, accompanied by her mum. Ashlee chose the song, “Crazier” an instrumental piece by Minnz Piano to walk down the aisle.

Jack was waiting at the arbour, supported by his twin brother and groomsmen. Ashlee said all her nerves flew away as soon as she was standing beside Jack, his hands holding hers throughout the ceremony.

After a short and sweet ceremony, and a group photo, photographer Richard accompanied the bridal party around the golf course on carts for a photo shoot while the weather was clear.
The couple enjoyed such a wonderful wedding day, I hope it was everything they had been looking forward to.

Ashlee left me a beautiful 5 star Google review: "Cheryl made everything so easy for us. Her warm and welcoming nature made us feel so comfortable in our meetings, on our rehearsal and on our wedding day. She always held professionalism, and was very helpful to any queries we had. We couldn’t have asked for a better ceremony and celebrant."

02/10/2024

I always say that I should write a book about the stories I’ve collected during my 20 years as a marriage celebrant. And today’s wedding would have its very own chapter.

This morning’s couple, very much besotted young lovers, decided on a sunrise wedding at Straddie. I’ll save you looking at the charts- sunrise was at 5:25am this morning.

So last night, the team from Elope Stradbroke sailed on the last barge from the mainland over to North Stradbroke Island. We dined at the pub, and, as luck would have it, Wednesday night is Parmi night. A Sauv Blanc washed it down nicely. Arriving at our digs, Siamity Shores, we laid out our respective tools of trade in readiness, and then bunked in for a few hours rest. Suzi from An eye for style was up first, dressing for the day at 2am. Our bride, gorgeous without any addition, was in the chair for hair curling and makeup application at 2:45am.

My alarm was set for 4:15, although I had been dozing on and off for the last few hours, hearing the hum of excited chatter drifting in from the living room.

By 4:50am, we were on the road, Romana carefully avoiding roos and rain showers on the trek to the headland.

As we arrived at Point Lookout, the light was filtering over the horizon. Our groom, dressed in black pants, a cream jacket, and tan boots and belt, checked the rings stashed safely in his pocket- for at least the fourteenth time since he had dressed.

On the headland, overlooking the ocean, and framed by Pandanus Palms, I set up a small speaker to play the couple’s song, “Until I found you,” by Stephen Sanchez. The groom’s face grinned as he watched his beautiful young bride walk towards him.

Our bride wore a white strapless fit and flare style dress, which showed off her figure. She carefully stepped out on the headland path in white heels, and a beaming smile.

In an intimate ceremony, the couple exchanged their legal vows, then added personal vows to each other that only they could hear.

We signed the certificates, with witnesses being our hair and makeup artist and photographer.

With so many gorgeous locations to choose as backdrops, Romana Saeheng led the couple around the Gorge Board Walk for some couple portraits. The photos will announce the elopement to family and friends once the couple return from their honeymoon.

After a quick stop at the bakery for chocolate croissants, we headed back to the jetty.

As we drowsily travel back to the mainland on the barge, reflecting on the memories, a work day already done by 8am, I’m feeling blessed to be able to work in such a fulfilling role with professionals who excel in their field.

Well - that's September done. And I am thrilled to have celebrated 13 weddings and a 20 year vow renewal during September.

Looking back at the statistics, 3 were on Straddie, 2 at Redland Bay Golf Club, and one each at Rainforest Gardens, Kangaroo Pt Cliffs Park, Raby Bay Foreshore Park, Indigiscapes, West End, Mt Coot-tha, a club, a chapel, and a backyard.

And I'm so appreciative that I haven't had to resort to paid advertising. 2 bookings were from referrals from past couples, 2 were from a favourite local venue, 2 were from Elope Brisbane, 2 were organic Google leads, 2 were from Elope Stradbroke, one was from the bride's uncle (not even sure how he found me), one from my photographer gal, and one was via my hairdresser!

Bring on October!

Mia and Sam first met at age 16, working their first part time jobs at KFC. Fast forward to 2024, and the couple celebrated their marriage at Redland Bay Golf Club.

The couple chose a terracotta colour scheme with sunflowers, which was just perfect for their spring wedding day.

Arriving in an orange Kombi van, Mia looked just gorgeous in a white dress with spaghetti straps, her long hair curled. She carried a bouquet of sunflowers. Preceding her down the aisle were the totally cute page boy and flower girl, armed with bubble guns. The bridesmaids wore terracotta coloured dresses.

Waiting under the arbour, Sam looked very sweet in a navy suit with white shirt, a terracotta bow tie and pocket square, and a sunflower boutonniere. The groomsmen wore matching outfits, with terracotta ties.

Guests tossed up dried flower confetti as the couple walked back down the aisle and into the next chapter of their life together.

Their wedding day all came together just beautifully, a day they will remember for many years to come.

Micro Wedding at J.C. Slaughter Falls, Mt Coot-tha Brisbane

Eight years after meeting, Emma and Nathan decided on a simple and low key wedding at Mt Coot-tha and asked the team at Elope Brisbane to make it easy for them.

The colour scheme for the wedding was steel blue, navy, and grey. Groom, Nathan wore navy trousers, with a white shirt, steel blue jacket, and a boutonniere of blue dried flowers which matched his sparkling blue eyes. Groomsman, James, was in a matching outfit, and ring bearer, Axel, wore navy trousers, a white shirt, and navy braces.
Emma wore a white gown with a lace bodice with a sheer panel. Her bouquet was also of dried flowers, featuring blues and whites. Her bridesmaids and flower girls were in navy.
The arched arbour was styled with greenery and flowers in white and pale blue, and white Americana chairs were set out for the guests.

Emma surprised Nathan by commissioning a song for him, which we played during the signing of the documents. What a beautiful way to personalise their wedding day!

The couple involved their children, by asking them to present the wedding rings, and pronounce the couple as husband and wife.

Being a little shy, the couple opted to exchange their personal vows in private, and had the moment captured on video.

Congratulations to this beautiful young family, we hope you will treasure these memories forever.

Wedding at Orleigh Park, West End, Brisbane
Andrew and Angela are a little quirky, so they decided that their wedding day would be a reflection of that.
They wanted their ceremony to be fun, colourful, and unconventional, and they asked the team at Elope Brisbane to coordinate their wedding day for them at the location of their first date, Orleigh Park on the banks of the Brisbane River.

The couple hired a converted church at Petrie Terrace for their wedding preparations. https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/6565539?source_impression_id=p3_1726456459_P3BGWCA7ZbYW6mCF

Angela was glammed up by Hollywood Brides, and she wore a knee-length white lace dress from Review https://review-australia.com/products/nostalgia-lace-shirtdress-ivory-shell-pink?utm_source=google&adid=&utm_campaign=17027684344&utm_medium=paidsearch&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwi5q3BhCiARIsAJCfuZkwxiVijL7J03ez3WKuBwwtnoOPhdC_d3jRpWV9oQQgRwdOydMPoFEaAq6KEALw_wcB with white sneakers. Andrew wore black trousers, a white shirt with rolled up cuffs, and a geometric print vest.

At their ceremony location by the River, Elope Brisbane set up an arch shaped arbour, and added foliage and fresh flowers in yellows and deep crimsons. A jute circular rug was placed for the couple to stand on. Forty white Americana chairs were set out under a shady tree for the comfort of guests.

Angela and Andrew were picked up from their accommodation by Busta Rydes, an orange 1973 VS Kombi https://kandidkombi.com.au/ . They arrived together at the ceremony site, and after signing their declarations and separately acknowledging their willingness to marry, they walked down the aisle to Next to Me by Rufus du Sol. Because the couple first met at a Rufus gig, all the ceremony music was from Rufus du Sol.
Their ceremony featured personal vows from the couple, which were, unsurprisingly, a little funny, a little sweet, and a little quirky. They also requested a handfasting, where I used an infinity knot to tie the cords representing the couple tying the knot. While the couple were signing the marriage certificates, Lego figurine kits were distributed for the guests to build their own Lego character.

The couple walked back down the aisle, of course to a Rufus du Sol song, and were showered with flower petals and well wishes. After some photos to commemorate the day, the celebrations were kicked off with the cutting of the wedding cake – a chocolate hazelnut flavoured cake in a brick shape, adorned with a Lego bride and groom.

The couple met up with their guests at a bar in the city to continue the celebrations, and have a honeymoon in Europe planned, seeing some of their favourite bands and of course, visiting Legoland.
Congratulations, Andrew and Angela – we loved working with you to create such a colourful wedding day.

Beach wedding at North Stradbroke Island

When Kris proposed at a scenic lookout at Maleny, he and Suzi started to dream about their ideal wedding. The couple decided on a beach wedding at North Stradbroke Island, and asked the team at Elope Stradbroke to curate a bespoke wedding experience for them.

Leading up to their wedding day, Suzi excitedly followed the socials of Elope Stradbroke, visually her wedding day coming to fruition.
On their wedding day, a sunny spring afternoon, dolphins were frolicking near the foreshore, and whales were spouting just further out to sea. The colours of the sky and ocean at Straddie are just spectacular, and you’d be forgiven for suspecting that the photos had a filter applied.

The team at Elope Stradbroke set up a hexagonal white wedding arbour, dressing it with white florals and green foliage. A jute rug was placed in the ceremony area, and white Americana chairs were laid out.

Kris arrived at the ceremony with his parents and sister, and pinned a white boutonniere to his dapper suit. He watched as Suzi walked towards him on the arm of her dad. Suzi wore a fitted satin off the shoulder white gown, with a long white veil pinned in her dark, wavy hair. She carried a bouquet of beautiful white flowers. Unfortunately, the breeze picked up Suzi’s veil and almost carried it off. With a laugh, Suzi decided to forgo the accessory - a funny memory from their wedding day.

The ringbearer for the ceremony was the couple’s mini Dachshund, Moose, who was adorable in a blue velvet harness, with matching lead and wedding ring case.

After the ceremony, the couple were showered with rose petals tossed up by their guests, which made for a spectacular photo. After cutting their wedding cake, the couple captured some panoramic photos at iconic Straddie locations.

Congratulations, Suzi and Kris. Thanks so much for trusting us to create your magical Straddie wedding.

11/09/2024

Gwen and Graeme first met at Vic’s Cabaret at Strathfield. Once Gwen was of age (21 years old), they married in St Anne’s Church (built in 1826) in Ryde.

Gwen wore a white, lace gown, with appliqued flowers and diamantes, a full skirt, and long sleeves which came down to a point . Along with her mother, Noeline, Gwen created the dress from a circular skirt and fabric from a cut out pattern for the bodice, which was purchased from a fabric store in Sydney (McCann’s?). She wore a white floral hairpiece in her hair, which attached the waist length veil. Gwen carried a bouquet of orchids which had been grown by her dad, Sid. Her hair was set at a hair salon in Ryde and she applied her own makeup.

Bridesmaids Eleanor and Dianne wore midnight blue, sleeveless, straight cut, floor length shift dresses, with long, white gloves.
Graeme wore a black suit and white shirt, with a black bow tie. In his back pocket, he carried a pair of pliers and a screw driver, as was his habit. He was attended by his brother, Ross, and friend Peter.

Ross’s car broke down, and Graeme almost wasn’t able to access his car to drive to the wedding, but luckily, they managed to move Ross’s car and Graeme arrived at the church just in time for the wedding. His mother in law, Noeline, wondered if he wasn’t going to show up.

Gwen walked down the aisle of the church on the arm of her father, Sid. The organ played for the bridal processional, and a choir of some fifteen sang during the signing of the certificates.

After the ceremony, the couple popped in to see Gwen’s grandmother, Stella, who was, at the time, residing in a nursing home.

The couple then travelled in Graeme’s Mini to the reception, at the highly sought after Kinnora (bookings needed to be made a year in advance). 100 guests celebrated with the couple – 50 from each side of the family. They dined on salad. The bride’s parents paid for the reception, with the groom’s parents paying for the flowers, photography and drinks.

At the end of the reception, the guests lined up to farewell the young couple. Graeme changed his bow tie to a less formal tie, and Gwen changed into a going away dress with a matching jacket and hat. This outfit would come in extremely handy for upcoming weddings of friends and cousins.

Graeme and Gwen had tried to organise a hotel for their wedding night earlier in the year, however, without wearing wedding rings, the couple had been unable to book accommodation. Instead, they travelled to a cosy caravan at Sawtell for their honeymoon.

Congratulations, Mum and Dad on sixty blissful years (21,900 days) of marriage.

Boho Beach wedding at Straddie

Meagan and Tom decided on a bohemian style beach wedding on the beach at beautiful Point Lookout, on North Stradbroke Island. They asked the team at Elope Stradbroke to coordinate their dream wedding.

The stylists set up a bamboo arbour, with a macrame backdrop and added dried flowers in neutral colours. Serendipitously, a coconut had floated up onto the sand, and this was placed alongside the basket of dried flowers for some authentic island botany. A jute mat was set on the sand for the couple to stand on. White Americana chairs were set out for the guests. The white sands and turquoise ocean on Straddie provided the most gorgeous backdrop.

Tom arrived at the beach in a linen suit with the trouser legs rolled up. He ditched shoes in favour of bare feet. He wore a white shirt with no tie, and added a bouttoniere in white.

Meagan wore a boho lace off the shoulder gown which floated in the breeze. Her hair was braided and curled. Meagan carried a bouquet of white, native flowers.

After a short and sweet ceremony, the couple were whisked off to scenic locations around Point Lookout for a photo shoot featuring rugged cliffs, Pandanus Palms, waves, and even wallabies.

Wedding at Sure Thing Chapel, Capalaba

Natalie and Rhys have been together for twelve years. With two sons together, life is busy, and their plans to marry kept getting put by the wayside.

However, when Natalie saw the newly opened Sure Thing Chapel, she knew that the whole wedding planning could be stress-free.

The couple met coordinator, Romana, on site, and filled out the Notice of Intended Marriage with celebrant, Cheryl. After a couple of emails, some shopping for outfits and rings, the wedding date was set and the couple were quickly crossing dates off the calendar.

Their wedding day was unseasonably warm, and Rhys, Natalie and their guests were so glad of the cool air conditioning in the chapel. Rhys turned up early, dressed in a smart navy suit, as were his groomsmen and the two little boys.

Natalie wore her long hair curled, and arrived on the arm of her dad. She was preceded by her two sisters as bridesmaids, both wearing navy.

After a short and sweet ceremony, the couple were soon relaxed and capturing their moments on film.

Whenever I see a couple’s sneak peek photo collection, there’s one or two photos that draw my eye. In this pic, I just love the emotion on Natalie’s face, as she wipes away a teardrop. And her sister works very hard to keep emotions in check. Such a beautiful moment.
