Our most asked question?

Do you set this up at home for your own children? 🤣

We would love to say yes all the time and I think I can speak for most of us that it’s so lovely being able to have these kind of resources at home, but after 550,000 brick picks ups, 20,000 carrots back in the supermarket baskets and 1 million hair clips removed for the hairdressers head, sometimes it’s just not the day 🤣

We’d love to hear about whether your job is something that your kids can take advantage of? Tell us in the comments…

Calling all Heads, Teachers, TAs, Nursery and Preschool Staff, PTA members ⬇️⬇️⬇️

We can set up our role play village in your nursery, pre-school or primary school to offer your children the chance to explore and play in their own unique village.

Choose from a variety of different role play areas to suit your setting. We can theme our village to meet the requirements of a class topic, school value or celebration.

We also have brand new 5 week programmes which focuses on key areas of learning:

- Communication and Language
- Problem Solving
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Writing for a Purpose

In these sessions, we set up our role play village for the children to learn through play with the focus being on developing a specific area of learning as well as the benefits of our village being cross curricular too.

Each week we will build on what we have been learning the previous week so that by the end of the 5 week programme, the children have had a high quality learning experience purely through play.

Do send us a message if you would be interested in more information for your setting or your child's school.

Let's take a look at our journey working with schools and early years settings. Take a read of our blog here written by our franchisor and creator Becky:

I’ve always had a passion for supporting children’s learning, this passion is what led me to train as a teacher. I absolutely loved my teaching career and I look back on it with fantastic memories. When I had my second child in 2016, it was evident that I would not be able to continue teaching whilst my children were little. There just wasn’t the flexibility in a teaching career that I needed to be around for my family and this was when our Pop Up Play Village journey started!

In the summer of 2019, we decided that we wanted to be able to link Pop Up Play Village with learning in schools. It is an extremely educational role play village where every role play area was designed with a focus on what the children are learning whilst they play. We decided to create EYFS and KS1 curriculum planning which enabled any of our role play areas to be taken into schools and early years settings to teach most aspects of these curriculums. We now also have KS2 planning too!

Once the planning had been created, I had that buzz to get back into schools and early years settings to pilot our curriculum plans and I was not disappointed. In the Autumn of 2019, I started working fortnightly at a local preschool and then in January 2020, I also starting working weekly in a FS2 class in a local primary school and I am still in both of these settings today! Being able to go into settings and work with the same group of children has been incredible and because I am there regularly, I can see the benefits that the children get from learning through role play.

So, what are some of the benefits of educating children through role play?

The most noticeable benefit of learning through role play is the excitement that it brings children to want to learn. When the children come in and see what play areas have popped up for them each week, there is a class of children wanting to get stuck into learning which is just what is needed to achieve high quality learning.

The role play areas and opportunities for learning within them are targeted at a specific age group and what they need to learn when we go into educational settings. We work with each setting to plan sessions that are following key learning objectives that they are currently learning in school or following a specific topic to enhance their learning further. For example, for children in a FS2 class who are just learning to write, there are writing opportunities in every play area. This enables the children to practise their phonics and early writing skills in a relaxed environment where they are writing for a purpose.

What I have noticed from working with the same groups of children is that their play develops over time and the children challenge themselves further as they become more familiar with each role play area. This independent child led learning through first hand experiences is such a powerful way to learn. The beauty of it is that the children don’t even realise that they are learning, they think they are just playing.

Another major benefit from learning through role play is that it is a very sociable way to learn. Children develop the skills to work alongside and with others, it encourages team work and develops children’s communication and language skills. This is all done in a play based way again for a purpose making it easier for children to be able to develop these skills.

Role play is truly an amazing way for children to learn, it enables them to learn from first-hand experience, it gives them opportunities to learn about the world around them and test out ideas in a safe and relaxing environment. It is also lots of fun and a great way to stimulate a class of children to learn.

If you would like to find out more information about our work with schools and early years settings, do get in contact with either myself at [email protected] or contact your local franchise for more information.

It's National Stress Awareness Day. To mark this day, I thought it would be good to share this quote from Erma Bombeck which I've found useful to remember when times can be tough:

''Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but never gets you anywhere.''

Here’s our 10 reasons why we think our parties are stress free and perfect for young children:

- You don’t need to do any prep on the build up to the party, we will have the entertainment covered for the whole duration of the party.

- Each Pop Up Play Village party is unique as the birthday child and their family can pick out the play areas that they would like. This is such a special thing to do and it builds up excitement for the party.

- Our village is flexible to suit the space which means we can run big or small parties in a large or a smaller space, in a venue or even in your house. The choice is yours to make!

- On the day of the party, there is no setting up required when you book a party with us. We do all the setting up of the entertainment so that you can enjoy getting ready for the party with your little one.

- On arrival at a Pop Up Play Village party, we find that the children settle quickly into enjoying the party. Sometimes parties can be daunting for little ones but we find that because our village is child led exploratory play, they get stuck in playing straight away.

- Our parties are brilliant for mixed ages which is great as there are often a variety of ages attending a party and it enables all children to have a great time together.

- We often get complimented by guests that our parties are calm and relaxed which tends to mean the children are happy and engrossed in their play. Our village is fun, engaging and can entertain children for hours as the children let their imaginations run wild.

- At our parties, it is not just about the children, we want the adults attending to have a great time too. Whilst the children are engrossed in their play, adults can enjoy the occasion and socialise with friends and family.

- At the end of a party, the little ones are usually tired and the last thing you want to do is to spend ages tidying up. Our village is mess free and we tidy and pack it all up.

- After the party is over, you will have the special memories captured through the party photos that we have taken for you. We love capturing these special moments!

Our Story!

Pop Up Play Village is a fun, inspirational place for children from birth to around 8 years old. It is a portable play village that features a supermarket, hospital, baby nursery, vets, construction site, Usborne library and café! On our event days, we also feature an art studio where children can get creative by choosing a craft to decorate and take home.

Children can feed, dress and look after the babies in the nursery. They can be a waiter or order food from the menu at the cafe. At the hospital, they can dress up as a doctor or nurse or be a patient who needs to get better! At the vets, they can bring their poorly pets in or dress up and be a vet themselves! In the supermarket, they can shop, use price lists and pay for food. At the Art Studio, children can get creative! They can choose from a variety of different options and make something to take home and cherish!

For grown-ups, Pop Up Play Village has a cafe selling hot, cold drinks and snacks.

Pop Up Play Village has predefined play sessions on our event days. This allows us to limit the number of children attending each session which ensures a quality play experience for all. At the end of each play session, Pop up Play Village is tidied so that it is ready for the next group of explorers! Play sessions must be pre-booked in advance.
