Hmong Heritage Month 2019
Hmong Heritage Month held and celebrated its first annual conference at the Holiday Inn in Rothschild, Wisconsin, with special guest speakers Chief Deputy Chad Billeb of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department; Mang Xiong of the Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce; and social media vlogger Neng Now (Neng Thao).

Rice cake, known as ncuav nplaum in Hmong, is a popular Hmong traditional snack dipping in sugar cane syrup. My mother used to tell me that the taste of ncuav nplaum has always reminds her of when she was a young girl living with her parents. Every new year celebration, their whole family, especially her, looked for this type of snack to enjoy and celebrate during their harvest celebratory gathering.
