Never put out designs for kids to choose while they're in line. My son, who came with me to most events since he was little, taught me this after he developed his own style. Tell kids all your pictures are in your imagination, and you bet they can find a design they want in theirs. Nudge them along if you have to keep the line moving by offering a choice: Animal or superhero⁴? Truck or sports? Butterfly or unicorn?
The first faces you paint will be seen by the rest of the kids in line, and imaginations will light up!
Predetermined designs limit the vibrant and imaginative experience of facepainting.
Integrate and manifest in the present.

La Catrina has become the referential image of death in Mexico, and it is common to see her embodied as part of the celebrations of Day of the Dead. The activities tent was bustling with crafts and facepainting for guests to enjoy. I was part of the fun as faceART. The stage had lots of local entertainment, including indigenous stories and dance. It was a great day!

We are back at Evergreen Brickworks on Sunday, October 30th from 10am -3pm for Day of the Dead in the Artisan Market.
The event offers live music, traditional Mexican and Latin American celebrations, delicious food and drink and fun family activities.
Entrance to the event is free. Come and get your Calavera Catrina / Skull Face Painting by Ilyan, Manny, and Xan! Price range is $5, 10,15, and 20.
