“This retrospective spans the past ten years of putting ink on paper for a monthly dance party. When it began, I never imagined this art would be one of the most consistent practices in my life and a feat for everyone involved in Club Congress, as nightlife tends to change and morph into different names and spaces that never seem to stick for very long. What started as some sexy scribbled pencil drawings took on a new narrative with years worth of monthly mutations exploring our relationship with the self on the dance floor : how we are transported away from and outside of our bodies and into sensual shapes that only exist when we enter sound baths we cleanse ourselves within. Do we become atmosphere as we sweat and melt to combine with other dancers into an entity that shares movement through time? To enter the dance floor is to be transformed forever“

To celebrate 10 YEARS of Club Congress & our illustrious Artist, Illustrator and BAD meaning GOOD (as in amazingly awesome & creative) human being, we are setting up a RETROSPECTIVE of BADs illustrations at .gallery

From my perspective, production/djin’ should be treated as an art form and I can think of a better artist to have given a visual identity to our music over the last 10 Years of weird, unique, and creative music we try to push.

Had to take the baby out for a ride since the weather broke, a little wet but it was a beautiful day.

There’s allot to be proud of this year, 3 releases, a handful of mixes, regular gign’, traveling, a few new residency’s, merch, & the 10 Year Milestone for Club Congress! It brings a tear to my eye, so hyped to have made it this far and we are taking it up a notch in 2025. I love this music so much and am so thankful I get to do it all time :)

Finishing off the year at Mr Ivey tonight then right to VOID for the afters, we are going LATE ⏰ & finally on Saturday I’m helping break in another new spot in Philly, Margo.

Club Congress is a staple of the Philadelphia Electronic Music Scene and it’s a benchmark for us to reach 10 Years. Come celebrate with us in the best way we know how.. a bangn’ Soundsystem, in a bangn club, and bangn’ DJs. Did I mention we are going to BANG THE BO###?!

We invited one of my favorite djs and someone one that has shown love everytime we’ve chatted, including doing one of my favorite mixes on the CLUBCAST #027... DJ HOLOGRAPHIC. I most recently saw her at for .bklyn and she gave the most perfect mix of Deep, Groove, Techno, Detroit and C**T, we just can’t wait.

Along with Ariel, Philadelphia singers Fawiziyya Heart and Eli Youngs will be performing our new collaborations, including ‘Hold Your Hand’. Prepare yourself for a special night, where music is at the forefront.

I can’t believe we are about to hit 10 Years of Club Congress 🥹 Shang and I have been thinking over how we want to move forward to keep our staple of the scene alive and thriving. In a city like Philly it is tough to keep a music focused party going for 1 year let alone 10. The lack of industry for electronic music, ever evolving landscape of what’s “popular” & the temptation to dip into the lowest common denominator promotional tactics runs deep but I’m super proud of what Club Congress has built, achieved, & maintained artistically over the years. It really can’t be stated enough…I stand by all of it, even the failures, just look at the years of amazing flyers by .art …I’ve even archived many of my favorite mixes from the party way back to 11/5/16 on the CLUBCAST.

Moving forward we are gonna be throwing a few less, but bigger CC’s, leaning more into production, booking the guests we love, and overall aiming to create that kind of alternative space that we aimed for way back in 2015 at that Kensington Art Gallery, LITTLE BERLIN. Lord knows we are gonna need it.

Big thank you and so much love to all the people who came out, supported, danced and helped keep our party going over all these years (not to mention a pandemic). Here’s to bigger and better in 2025, Club Congress is on hiatus until the 10 Year…
