Every wedding we plan is an honor and privilege - But when you’re the planner for your little cousin’s wedding, it takes on a whole new meaning. 💕

I’ve literally watched Katie Rose grow up—from holding her as a newborn to celebrating all the joys and griefs of life: choir concerts, first boyfriends, breakups, graduations, the birth of my own children, the passing of grandparents, holidays, and now her own wedding.

During the rush of the day, I had to pause and take in the fact that THIS bride was my little Katie Rose Bud.

Started the 2024 Season off with one of the sweetest couples I have ever met.

Maeve and Robert’s wedding was a beautiful fusion of love, culture, and profession, perfectly reflecting the vibrant personalities of this delightful couple. As doctors, they undoubtedly brought a caring and attentive touch to every detail of their special day, ensuring it was not just a celebration of their love but also a testament to their commitment to each other and their shared values.

Maeve’s Irish heritage added an enchanting layer of tradition and charm to the festivities, infusing the day with rich symbolism and heartfelt customs.

During the ceremony, Maeve and Robert exchanged the Irish Wedding Coin, a tradition where the groom presents a coin to his bride representing that from that point forward, everything he owns would be equally shared. Maeve offered her own coin to Robert, (a modern interpretation) symbolizing the significance of her own worth and value that she brings to their partnership.

The reception was a lively affair, filled with laughter, music, and dancing. Guests indulged in traditional mulled wine and of course, fine whiskey! The dance floor was never empty as Maeve and Robert danced to the sounds of Irish music and contemporary hits, surrounded by their loved ones who shared in their joy.

Throughout the day, it was evident that Maeve and Robert’s love was not only palpable but infectious, spreading joy and warmth to all who had the pleasure of celebrating with them. As the night drew to a close, the couple bid farewell to their guests under a shower of sparklers, embarking on their journey together with hearts full of love and memories to last a lifetime.

Mehrgol and Jasper’s Aroosi (wedding) was a celebration of two heritages. We were able to beautifully weave together traditional Persian/Iranian wedding customs (like the Sofreh Aghd) with some Black/African American cultural elements (jumping the broom).

Mehrgol and Jasper are two of the most intentional humans I’ve ever met - using their special day to celebrate the richness of their cultures!

I was honored that they entrusted me to plan their special day and will forever be thankful for the experience to witness their love for each other and their families.

Most of the YGM feed features amazing couples and vendors that I have the privilege of highlighting, but this one is going to be a little different.

Launching a small business is hard. Managing the day to day of your own small business is packed full of highs, lows, doubts, stresses, loneliness, worry, hustle, and sometimes a celebration here and there.

But sometimes you have a day when people blow you away, and see potential in you that you don’t always see in yourself. Fear and doubt are such powerful forces that hold you back… but saying yes can unlock opportunity you didn’t think was possible.

After years of being a Table Magazine subscriber, I got a email one day from the Editor in Chief: “Meg, love the work you are doing, would love to hear some ideas you might have for Table magazine. Let’s talk”

“Whaaaaaaaaaaatttt?!?!?!? Me??!!! No way!!!!”

So I pulled myself together (and asked my husband if he thought this was a scam 😂), and took that scary step forward and took a phone call with

So…. be on the lookout in ‘24… YGM stepped beyond weddings, and will be a featured Collaborator for - I pitched a multi-edition series and then was entrusted to plan & coordinate the photo shoots. So, make sure to renew (or start a new subscription) so you can see a series of shoots highlighting food, friendships, family gatherings, seasonal celebrations, and community.

Know what’s even better? Having the chance to pay it forward, and support other independent, woman-owned small business - providing opportunities for friends to highlight their skills, expand their reach, and share the passion of their craft.

It’s Meg, Owner & Lead Planner of Yinz Getting Married. If this is your first time on my page, welcome! I’m glad you’re here.

After working in the industry for 10 years, I launched my own wedding planning business in 2017 - Yinz Getting Married.

When planning a wedding, it is easy to become overwhelmed! Venues, vendors, timelines… what’s important, what’s not?! It can be daunting. A wedding planner may be just what you need! Whether you need help from start to finish or one that handles all the last minute details a month out, I can create a package that works just for you! Think of me as an "a la carte” planner, that will create a personalized package that fits your specific needs.

I specialize in listening to my clients and getting the job done! We’ll spend time getting to know each other so I can feel confident that my plans reflect your wishes. My hope is that YGM clients feel like they’re working with an invested friend and not just another hired vendor. Let me handle all the details so you can show up and be present on your wedding day.

With a degree in Musical Theater, I’m accustomed to memorizing lines, feeding off adrenaline, knowing who should be in the spotlight, juggling choreography, and knowing how to ad lib on the spot; all things that make me great at what I do.

If you are a previous client or vendor that has worked with me, you know how much I love sticking to a timeline. I get a thrill every time I grab my phone and see that we’re right on schedule. However, this timeline is a guide, useful to vendors (so their time is not wasted) and helpful for the couple so they can know what’s happening next. But sometimes, things happen during the wedding day that you cannot account for. Sometimes, adjustments need to be made and “going off-script” is exactly what’s called for. Victor and Anna’s reception was going accordingly to plan - toasts were made, they had enjoyed their first dance as husband and wife and the cake was about to be cut. I checked my phone and we were right on time for dinner to be served. But then came a moment we had not planned for. Victor’s mom, who unfortunately has Early-Onset Alzheimer's Disease, was not very lucid during the day to completely recognize what was going on. But in a moment of clarity, she realized she was at her son’s wedding and she wanted to dance with him. Victor rushed over to me and asked if we could make a change to the schedule. I’m pretty sure my exact words were “who cares about a timeline, absolutely! Go dance with your mom” What happened next was probably the most beautiful thing I’ve ever witnessed at a wedding, although the tears blurred most of my vision. Friends, a timeline is a wedding day must. But experiencing your wedding day and being present for all the moments the day provides… well, that is far more important to me. (I don’t own the rights to this song)

Yinz Getting Married

Hi! I’m Meg Van D**e and I’m a wedding planner in the great City of Champyinz! Besides being an avid sports fan, I’m a mommy to two precious girls (Julianna and Madelyn) and a wife, very much in love, with my husband of 11 years, Josh. I love spending time in my garden and then quickly heading into my kitchen where I use what I’ve grown to cook meals for my family, friends, co-workers and neighbors! I love looking through cookbooks and then getting creative with those recipes and taking them a step further. (If you hire me, I may just cook for you)! Singing, watching sports, trying new restaurants, exploring the city with my children, traveling and enjoying a glass (or two) of wine on my patio are things that bring me great joy!

After working as the wedding coordinator for my church for 8 years, I decided to launch my own wedding planning business - Yinz Getting Married. It’s the perfect balance of my desire to be a stay-at-home mom and to be a working, creative artist. Yes, an artist! I went to school for musical theater. Growing up on the stage, memorizing lines, putting on a character, and the lights always on me, has helped prepare me to be your wedding planner. I’m great under pressure, I feed off adrenaline, I love details, I love choreography, I’m quick and I can act. I think you can see how all those things make me great at what I do.

But to be clear, this is not a show that when the lights go down and the costumes come off, I walk away and forget the story. No my friends. The reason I love this job is because I love marriage. I respect it. I sacrifice for it. And I believe strongly, that part of my job in helping you plan the perfect day, is helping you prepare to have an even more perfect marriage. I tell my couples ALL THE SAME THING… I want to help give you the day you’ve always dreamt of but I really want to help you keep perspective. The flowers are important. The photography is really important. The venue and the food and the centerpieces, yes of course, those matter! But after that day (which will fly by) it’s you and your spouse and the vows you made to each other that will ultimately matter the most.

So please, now that you’ve made this promise to each other, let me handle the details. Let me worry about the stress so you don’t have to. And for heaven’s sake, let’s have fun! Let’s celebrate the union that you’re about to enter into. I promise you, it’s the greatest thing in the world. Even better then back to back Stanley Cups, 6 Lombardi Trophies and your name on a shiny marquee!
