It’s been 2 years since I was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer.
Although I am now cancer free which I am extremely lucky to be, I live with a different body.
The last 9 month have been really hard, almost harder than chemo and radio. I am taking drugs that suppress Oestrogen production along with a cocktail of other bits and bobs to keep me cancer free. This puts my body into what they call medical menopause. It comes with all of the side effects of the usual menopause plus more and it means my body functions like that of a 60 year old. I’ll be taking these for the next 5-10 years, the oestrogen will then return 🤞
Despite this, Ive decided to challenge myself to swim 10k in march for cancer research. I do actually love being in the water and doing something for a good cause is better than forcing myself to keep active when my body feels rubbish, so here we are!
I started swimming today and we’re off to a great start. So if you could do me a favour and chuck a couple of quid in my link above here to keep me going that would be hugely appreciated.
The sun is out. Small wins everyday. 🌞
