From a wish mid-November, to flying home today, we, and I mean we the whole group, made some kind of amazing magic. Not only did we manage to pull off the first EVER MallowCon, but managed to pull off an amazing event where people became inspired, lives were changed, and beautiful friendships and partnerships were created.
We have been wanting to do an event, none of us wanted the responsibility of creating an event. With the help of the lovely Carolyn Dodd, we were able to host this invigorating event. She got the ball rolling and as it rolled it got bigger and bigger. Thank you my dear. Your hospitality and grace is cherished and we are very thankful for your contribution.
With the beginning of this event being a small group of people, Jondell Lafont-Garcia was asked to come and share her wisdom and experience with marshmallows. It was here that this small, local get together began to build interest, not only for attendance, but for the possibility and potential of a fun group lead event. Thank you so much for going from “Sure I’ll come and share,” to planning, coordinating, and creating the wonderful schedule of classes, breaks, and social activities.
With our group name and reputation associated with this event, Wynter Hosier stepped in and helped plan the event, keeping our mission and ethics intact. She was able to help transfer the safe environment and wholesomeness of the group to real life. Without her, our lives would be very different and we are all so grateful for her instigation of this group and her dedication to keep education, learning, and inclusivity at the forefront.
I don’t feel it’s appropriate to applaud myself, but I will say that I am proud of the work I was able to contribute to this event. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the planning of this event, and the personal and professional development it has brought me. If you had told me a year ago I would have created imagery, logo, merch, and a website for a convention, I would not have believed you.
I am so grateful for the wonderful vendors (Etta's Gooey Goodies,
IndriVanilla,
Smush,
The Candy Pan and Penguin Freeze Dried Treats) who were extremely patient with the process and were willing to take the risk of selling at a first year convention. You ALL helped make the event so amazing and helped our attendees have a wonderful experience. We hope you ad a wonderful time, made some great sales, memories, and we hope to see you at the next one! (We’ll be in touch)
Thank you to all of the behind the scenes people who I missed who at or may not be in the group for your time and assistance in helping the event rom so smoothly.
And last, but certainly not least; YOU!!!
Thank you all so much for making this event the huge success it was; weather you attended or not! You all helped plan this event, gave ideas for the future, and spread the word. This event, and this group, could not exist and thrive the way it does without the kindness, curiosity, and respect of every single one of you. Thank you for helping create a safe space to ask questions, share tips, and brainstorm ideas. You are the reason we do all of this.
As I wrap up this post, I am so happy, proud, and grateful for this experience. We are in talks of a next one, location and dates are to be determined. First, the planning team is going to take a break and process our perceptions of the event. We will keep everyone posted on details and are striving to give 6+ months notice in hopes that more of you may be able to attend. A survey will go out to those who attended sometime in the next week or 2 for feedback and information about this year’s event. If you haven’t signed up to receive updates on the website, please do so to fill out the survey, and get up-to-date information for the next one.
I am leaving the store open year round, but the 2024 con exclusive items will be leaving in 1 month.
Thank you all so much, safe travels, and see you next year! 🧡💜🧡
