A Happy Yule To You All.
The end of the year for London Calling - Shades Of Rock it means only one big annual celebration: The Festive Top 30 Albums of 2023. It has been a great year of fantastic album releases. A year where I've been given exposure to a myriad of great bands. Here are those albums that made my end-of-the-year list. Those left outside my Top 30 are close to my heart too.

London Calling - Shades Of Rock's Sunday night show from 1.00am - UK Time - on Rock Radio UK opens up with the furious galloping experimental sound delivered by an 'Aries ' caught fleeing or perhaps fighting. A turbulent and stormy track from Rimini, Italy, experimental sonic duo SAN LEO. The duo's new album " Aves Raras " ( Rare Birds ) is out now via Bronson Recordings.

Moving into the prog-rock realm, Brooklyn, NY, collective Wounded Buffalo Theory is safely landing in with a " Parachute ". The band has been around for the last 22 years delivering a good bunch of self-released records. Their aforementioned " Parachute " is their latest one, and a great jamming rock one. Sam Jr., for those who don't know much about him, has a big music history under his belt and he's also part of the much-acclaimed and loved Toronto alt-rock collective Broken Social Scene. " La Gran Burla Del Universo - Una Caja Repleta De Nubes " ( The Great Mockery of the Universe - The Box Full of Clouds ). This is an incredible work of art carved with gentle attention, in the same way, he carves his wood to bring out the wanted sculptured image. The new album, Nico Informed me, is a work that contains the points of view of different characters in its text, narrating in poetry their harsh realities, crossed by misfortunes that coincide with human problems and their consequences. These poetic stories are supported and advanced through slow rhythms and dark harmonies, which aim to recreate environments suitable for introspection and travel. The album, is released on December 8, 2023, via the notable Argentinian experimental label Spica Records.
The production was carried out entirely by Nico Sartel and involved the collaboration of D**o S. and Inguz, who already appeared on his 2022 album " La Distancia Hasta El Mundo ". This is an utterly MUST of an album. Just buy it when it is released.

The song is enriched by the voice of Cristina Renzetti, one of the most appreciated voices of Italian jazz, specialized in Brazilian and Lusophone music.
