Our last couple of shout outs go to two individuals and some local organisations and groups.

Paul 'Golly' - local legend and presenter from Overton Radio for introducing our acts on the stage. No one does it better!

Overton Radio and Overton Sheepfair for pushing out a lot of promotional posts for the event. The Overton Radio and sheepfair crew worked their socks off all weekend.

Last, but by no means least...

Cllr. Colin Phillimore, without whom the event couldn't happen. Colin took on the risk, dealt with the logistics for the use of the OCR and arranged the marquees, bar (thank you to the Overton FC volunteers for running it) and catering. Here he is selling tickets with Paul at the wheelbarrow race.

A huge thank you to Martin and the crew from ODS for providing the phenomenal lighting for Overton Rocks. I know they were still on site into the early hours dismantling their epic set up. What a bunch of stars.

It feels a bit odd giving a shout out to ourselves, so this is a personal thank you to my Fortunate Ones bandmates, and to the amazing crowd for their support.

Thank you to:

Hugh - for providing the stage and the phenomenal work he put into the technical side of making Overton Rocks happen. He only had one other stage and PA to manage as well. How he was still standing at the end of our set, we don't know.

Jon - for spending the most time up scaffolding towers and ladders, even with a dodgy knee, because he has the freakish height required for the bolts at the top of the stage!

Paul - for hard work on tickets sales at the wheelbarrow race, and for always drawing the short straw to ask all the difficult questions to get the event happening.

Chris - for organising and rigging up the pyrotechnics and samples that took our set to another level.

Adrian - we're always blessed if he can join us. Not only did we have him on stage with us (a real treat) but he also helped with the stage construction work.

Alfie - for being a great stage hand, and for all his hard work over the year providing sound support for us.

The next shout out is for our DJ set, Tarde Loco & Bridge. Immense respect and love to Furney for cramming in a brilliant set, after having spent all day managing the sound for the PJ&H stage at the sheepfair. The DJ set was a perfect, party ending to a phenomenal night.

A huge shout out and thank you to the exceptionally talented Chrome Horse Diplomats. It was great to see people dancing and enjoying their original material, as well as a couple of great covers. A fantastic group of guys who put on an incredible show at Overton Rocks.

They'll next be appearing on the main stage at BunkFest in September. Get following them using the link above. Next up for a shout out are the brilliant Ghost in the Machine.! We had loads of feedback from people about how much they loved Ghost in the Machine's set. Everyone loves a bit of synthpop and Paula and Matt really got the crowd going. Adding to that, they're really lovely people and we really appreciate all the positivity and support they offered.

First up in our shout outs is BEEF.band ! They are a young, talented local band who are building momentum and we love their energy. We're sure within a few years they'll be playing on bigger stages, and we'll all be able to say we saw them at the start of their journey!

Well, didn't we have a good time?!

Over the next few days we're going to be thanking and celebrating all the wonderful people who contributed to making Overton Rocks '24 a storming success! We'll be starting with the bands and DJs...

It's tougher than ever for musicians. Bands and artists make minimal money from playing gigs (frequently only enough to cover costs, if that) and rely heavily on social media and streaming to help build a following and get their name out there.

Bands and DJs were payed a nominal amount for Overton Rocks to cover costs, and we appreciate them doing that for a fundraising event. We know they were all worth a lot more!So, if you want to give something back, get on their social media and start liking and following their pages! It makes a huge difference to bands when they're trying to secure gigs to have a presence and following online.

Overton Rocks raises money for grass roots sports, but the event plays a big role in supporting live and local music, and upcoming bands. Thank you for helping to keep live music alive and local 🤩💜

Thank you to everyone who came down and made last night one to remember 🙌.

As an idea of just some of the work that goes into the event organisation, here's all the members of Fortunate Ones (and Martin - top guy!) assembling the stage on the hottest day of the year. Disassembly finished a couple of hours ago.

The chances of rain for Overton Rocks is under 50% at the moment! We're on it with offerings to the gods of Rock n Roll to keep the skies clear!

Don't worry though - if it looks like there may be showers, there are some marquees going up on the grounds so you can watch from a sheltered spot if needed. Alternatively, get your wellies and your festival vibe on! 🤘💜
