Friends,
Please spread this widely. Our friend Hakeem is missing and the officer assigned to his case won’t be back at work until the 30th. This is devastating as we know missing persons cases need to move as quickly as possible.
Members of the LGBT community, I’m appealing to you, especially those of us who care for our community in our job titles!
We know that the police are not friends to our community, especially to Black and Indigenous q***r people.
Let’s work together to let the cops know Hakeem has a community behind him and we will not let him fall on the cracks of this racist homophobic system! Please look at this google doc, copy and paste it and send it to the following officers:

SHARE WIDELY: End Violence Against Black Trans Women & S*x Workers! We demand :

Moka Dawkins, currently incarcerated at the Toronto South Detention Centre (the South) for defending her life, wrote a cover story for PASAN's Cell Count, a health resource with content that is primarily produced by prisoners across Canada. She candidly discusses her struggle to be treated with dignity and respect from prison officials as a trans woman in a men's prison. Once these officials read her article, they claimed that she is lying about her mistreatment and demanded that Cell Count not proceed with publishing the article.

Moka informed us that officials at the South decided to completely ban this issue of Cell Count from reaching all subscribers at the South. She also started a hunger strike to demand she receives it. She ended her hunger strike after 24 hours, when officials told her that they have forwarded her demand to the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. Moka is currently awaiting their decision on this. You can read the issue here: http://www.pasan.org/cell-count.html

Email Sam Erry, the Deputy Minister of Correctional Services here: [email protected] to demand that health and harm reduction resources that have a significantly positive impact on the mental health of prisoners, such as Cell Count, be able to reach people inside of all Ontario correctional facilities, detention centres and jails."

Thank you to Amber Williams-King for this beautiful poster!

Wowwww the world is on fire. We have seen how beautiful and possible it is to make some big moves on the political front, but fascism is here to stay and it's up to us to fight back. Part of fighting back is taking care of our hearts and bodies and each other through dancing, convening and supporting parties designed for and by our communities. Let's keep dancing and building together! Here are DJ Zehra's upcoming gigs if you want to dance with meee:
