This little man has become so adventurous and tender hearted. Kari found this place right around the corner from where we live and I got to take Xander for some bro time. Sometimes I can get so caught up in all life throws our way, that I forget to get outside and just enjoy moments… moments completely unrelated to career or anything else I may be pursuing. I’ve been loving slowing down lately! God, help me to never miss the moments that truly matter!

Sylas has not even been with us for a whole year and yet we have already made so many amazing memories! We have gone on so many adventures and it’s wild to think this is only the beginning! I thank God for this little man. He is so incredibly special! Thank you and for adding to our ever growing list of moments that just bring our family closer together. It means the world!!

I don't post a whole lot, but I just wanted to say how incredible it’s been to experience all this AGT stuff with our son. Xander is an amazing little boy with a personality that is larger than life! He is my partner and my best little buddy! I want him to see it’s possible to chase your dreams… but more than that, I want him to see that no matter what comes of all this, we are a family who sticks together! We are thankful for the little things, we look past discouragement, we hold on to hope, we trust God, and we just keep loving! We don’t only inspire the world through our success, but through our failure as well. Xander has seen me fall many times. I want to be the kind of father who keeps smiling because my joy comes from so much more than my achievements/circumstances. What God can accomplish in a human heart is far more valuable than anything this world could ever offer. That is the foundation of our family, and that is the foundation of our joy.
That being said… I look forward to whatever adventures may lie ahead as our AGT journey continues!!

First Christmas as a family of 3 😁 I am so incredibly grateful for my amazing wife and our son! I look forward to many more Christmas’s, learning together, growing together, and enjoying one another’s presence. We are not a perfect family, but we are a team! Also... I love Xander’s side eye he gives me when his bottle is in my mouth lol 🤣🍼

I have not been active on social media in quite some time. I have somewhat of a love hate relationship with all these social platforms. On one hand, there is great benefit to using facebook and instagram and things like that... but on the other hand, for me personally, I find myself distracted. Constantly comparing, judging, and aimlessly scrolling. It's weird how I tell myself I'm connecting, and yet it often does just the opposite. It disconnects me from the world around me. Disconnects me from the people sitting in the same room and the people I am actually doing life with. My goal in 2020 is not to abandon social media all together, but rather, to be a bit more intentional with my time. I want to share things that God is doing. I want to share things that matter... things that can hopefully bring light and encouragement to peoples lives. That being said... A lot has happened in the last year. The biggest and most special thing being that my wife and I adopted a son! We have had a hard time getting pregnant and last year around this time we found out we were expecting a baby. We were absolutely thrilled! We were expecting at the end of June. Sadly, at almost 4 months, we had a miscarriage and it was unexpectedly difficult to process and walk through. In that time we started working with an organization called "Living Alternatives". This organization works with women in crisis pregnancies. We got very close to one of the girls here, as my wife and I live in a house with all the expecting mothers :) After she had her baby, because of some personal things in her life, she decided it simply would not be in the best interest of the child for her to keep him. She did one of the hardest and most selfless things any mother could do. After carrying him for 9 months and bringing him into this world, she asked Kari and I to adopt him. She said she couldn't imagine anyone else raising him. This was an incredibly emotional process but I have been absolutely blown away at all God has been doing through it all. AND... crazy enough... we got him around the end of June. Right when we were expecting our baby boy that we lost during the pregnancy. Xander is almost 6 months old and he is the brightest thing I have ever encountered. I am a dad. My wife is a mom. CRAZY!! It is awesome and scary and amazing all at the same time!! Life is full of surprises! God is so good. I just wanted you all to meet him :)

For our wedding, Kari and I wanted to make sure we didn't go too crazy financially and also make sure we kept it about what really matters. To quote Duck Dynasty, "If people leave a party talking about the center pieces... it probably wasn't a very good party." Our wedding barely cost anything at all and we had the time of our lives! Instead of mailing out invitations and itinerary for our wedding weekend, we made this video to send to our family and friends. It would have felt unnatural to do things the "normal" way ;) Hope this makes you smile!!
