What you should know about Hug Point! 🤩

Hug Point is a breathtakingly beautiful beach on the Oregon Coast.

The diversity of photogenic locations (such as majestic rock formations, caves, waterfall, forest, cliffs, even an old stagecoach road) make it a very popular wedding location!

Here’s what you should know if you’re planning a wedding there:

1. Parking - If you are getting married at HP during high season (June-Sept)you should know that parking can be a bit of a nightmare. 🙄

To avoid having to park a quarter mile down the road it’s best to get there either before noon or after 5pm, especially on weekends to avoid the “day trippers” who spend all day on the beach.

Carpooling or hiring a shuttle is another option. I’ve had couples who rent a shuttle to take guests to and from Tolovana in Cannon Beach. It works great! 👍

2. Permits - if you have more than 50 guests, or you are placing any structures on the beach (rental tables/chairs, an arbor, etc), you will need a permit and permits are only allowed at Hug Point between Labor Day (Sept) and Memorial Day (late May).

Permits are NOT issued during the summer months at Hug Point, but you can still have a small ceremony there during high season as long as you’re not placing any structures on the beach.

3. Tides- Be sure to check the tide tables for your date and time! There are many places at Hug Point that you can only get to at low tide (including the waterfall).

4. Accessibility - if anyone in your group has mobility limitations, hug point can be challenging. The parking lot is steep and the stairs leading to the beach have a big drop off from the last stair to a bed of rocks that must be crossed to get to the beach.

Help with logistics like these is included in our services! 🤩

I had the opportunity to do this fun photoshoot at Hug Point and show off some of the gorgeous scenery there!

You know that feeling when something you’ve planned for months comes together perfectly? ! 🤩💖 We were all feeling it when we celebrated our elopement winners, Cadyn & Julian, who were married on Manzanita Beach in November!

A total of NINE local businesses collaborated (at least 5 are women owned) to create the perfect weekend for Cadyn & Julian. 💖🌈

I highly recommend Manzanita as the perfect spot for a destination elopement or micro wedding! Thanks to everyone who participated in this amazing day! 🙌😍

If you’re planning a 2025 wedding on the Oregon Coast this is a team that can make it happen! 🤩

Location tips! Have you decided where to have your beach ceremony?

Consider these 3 tips when choosing a location on the Oregon Coast:

1) Tide level - Check the tide level on your date & time. There are certain locations (like the one shown) that are only accessible at low tide.

2) Parking and accessibility- Parking is definitely an issue during the summer months especially on weekends. Make sure your location has plenty of parking for the number of guests you’re inviting and be sure to give extra time to find a space and walk to the ceremony site.

If you have elderly guests (or guests with mobility limitations) consider having the ceremony at an accessible location.

Beach wheelchairs are available in many locations along the coast but make sure the beach is easily accessible for these.

3) Permit - Do you need a special-use permit? The answer is yes if you have over 50 guests OR if you are planning to have structures like a floral installation, rental chairs, tables, etc.

Also, many locations (such as Hug Point) are not permitted for larger weddings during the summer because of parking limitations and other factors. Be sure to check with the Parks Dept. on whether or not you will need a permit.

I loved this sweet wedding in the woods.🤩 When the forecast called for wind & rain on the beach, Lauren & Alyssa’s two families (who had just met for the first time) rallied together to create the most amazing “plan B” in a gorgeous wooded setting! And they even had a bubble making machine (which I was obsessed with)! lol. 🫧 💖🫧

A year ago I helped Donna and Marti plan their intimate elopement at Arch Cape and we’ve been friends ever since! 🤩 They came from Texas and had to stay indoors all summer due to the extreme heat so the cool Fall evening on the Oregon Coast couldn’t have been more perfect.

Happy anniversary my friends!! 🥰🥂🍾🌊

Can we talk about rain? 💁🏻‍♀️🌧️☔️

It’s a topic you must address if you’re getting married in Oregon!

If rain is in the forecast for your wedding day, don’t let it stress you out. The weather forecast is constantly changing right up until the day of. I’ve seen many rainy day forecasts for weddings and suddenly the sun breaks through the clouds and it’s beautiful!

Here are 4 tips to consider…

#1 Wait it out. A common saying in Oregon is “if you don’t like the weather wait five minutes.” The weather changes constantly here. There could be rain & wind one minute and sun & a rainbow the next!

#2 Bring umbrellas! I have clear bubble umbrellas. They work great for keeping you dry until the ceremony or even during the ceremony if you choose. BUT, if it’s windy they might serve as a sail. I’ve been almost swept off my feet. 😂 If this happens see #3 & 4.

#3 Embrace it! Did you know that rain on your wedding day is considered good luck? Don’t let it ruin your special day. A little rain can be romantic and fun!

#4 Plan B - If you are not a fan of getting wet on your special day then you should definitely look at having an alternate plan. This could be renting a venue, or having it at your Airbnb or hotel.

Top 3 reasons why I love this secret forest location for an elopement…✨🌲🧚🏼‍♀️ ❤️

(1) It’s soooo private! Your intimate vows will not be seen or heard by strangers. The trees will be your witnesses, the only sounds are the songs of the birds, and the rushing of waters.

(2) It’s conveniently located about 25 min South of Cannon Beach and only 12 min from the adorable beach town of Manzanita. You can have the best of beach and forest! 🌊🌲

(3) It’s magical! ✨🧚🏼‍♀️✨ There is no denying the magic of this forest. Everyone who visits mentions it. You’ll feel it the moment you arrive.

✨The forest came alive for this magical elopement shoot. It turned out so pretty and was featured in 💖

THE NUMBER ONE MISTAKE couples make when getting married on the Oregon Coast…

It may sound simple but checking the tide tables before choosing your date and time of ceremony is VERY important.

I can’t tell you the number of times a couple will send a pic of a location they love only to find out that it will be completely under water on the date & time of their ceremony. 😭

Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and the rotation of the earth and can be dramatically different from day to day (weather is also a factor).

Certain popular wedding locations must be accessed at a very low tide (less than 3 ft). Others can only be accessed at a negative tide.

Before you set the time and location of the ceremony make sure to consult the tide tables (which can be found online) or work with a local wedding vendor who can help you determine the best place and time for your ceremony! Like us! 🙋🏻‍♀️

We always provide our clients with a detailed outline that includes the tide level at the time of their ceremony, and whether it is ascending or descending.

Hug Point (pictured) is one of those locations that is tide dependent.

What you should know about Hug Point! ❤️

Hug Point is know for its breathtaking beauty & diversity of photogenic scenes (majestic rock formations and caves, the waterfall, trees, cliffs, an old stagecoach road, etc).

If you are getting married there during high season (June-Sept)you should know that parking can be a bit of a nightmare. 🙄

To avoid having to park a quarter mile down the road (meaning the highway!) it’s best to get there either before noon or after 5pm especially on weekends to avoid the “day trippers” who spend all day on the beach.

Carpooling or hiring a shuttle is another option. I’ve had couples who rent a shuttle to take guests to and from Cannon Beach. It works great! 👍

Remember also that the state park department does not issue permits at this location during the months between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

This means if you want to have more than 50 guests, or any kind of structures on the beach (chairs, an arbor, a floral moon gate, etc), you should be looking at early spring to late fall for the wedding day.

Lastly, be sure to check the tide tables for your date and time! There are many places at Hug Point that are not accessible during high tide.

Help with logistics like these is included in our services! 🤩

“Hi” to all my new friends! It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself. My name is Carolyn and I am a Wedding Officiant & Celebrant.

Did you know that I live in a rainforest on the beautiful Oregon Coast?

It is a very special place because it belonged to my mom for 33 years. She passed away almost 2 years ago and I have been caring for her forest, house, and her fur companion Dreya.

Dreya and I grieved together and now we have completely fallen in love (at least I have 😂). Even though she can be a bratty howler when she doesn’t get her way. Lol

As a Celebrant, I have studied the art of creating and facilitating ceremonies (yes there is actually a school for this - the Celebrant Institute), and I love creating personalized ceremonies for couples in love.🥰

A ceremony can be transformative and life changing, it can bring tears of joy and laughter. It allows you to acknowledge your story and the transitions in your life, including the growth and changes you experience on your personal and collective journey.

I feel so blessed to work with some of the most creative and all around amazing people in the industry, and doubly grateful to call many of them friends.

I also facilitate rainforest healing ceremonies (see my website. Link in bio)! ✨🧚🏼‍♀️✨
