Can we talk about rain? 💁🏻‍♀️🌧️☔️

It’s a topic you must address if you’re getting married in Oregon!

If rain is in the forecast for your wedding day, don’t let it stress you out. The weather forecast is constantly changing right up until the day of. I’ve seen many rainy day forecasts for weddings and suddenly the sun breaks through the clouds and it’s beautiful!

Here are 4 tips to consider…

#1 Wait it out. A common saying in Oregon is “if you don’t like the weather wait five minutes.” The weather changes constantly here. There could be rain & wind one minute and sun & a rainbow the next!

#2 Bring umbrellas! I have clear bubble umbrellas. They work great for keeping you dry until the ceremony or even during the ceremony if you choose. BUT, if it’s windy they might serve as a sail. I’ve been almost swept off my feet. 😂 If this happens see #3 & 4.

#3 Embrace it! Did you know that rain on your wedding day is considered good luck? Don’t let it ruin your special day. A little rain can be romantic and fun!

#4 Plan B - If you are not a fan of getting wet on your special day then you should definitely look at having an alternate plan. This could be renting a venue, or having it at your Airbnb or hotel.

Top 3 reasons why I love this secret forest location for an elopement…✨🌲🧚🏼‍♀️ ❤️

(1) It’s soooo private! Your intimate vows will not be seen or heard by strangers. The trees will be your witnesses, the only sounds are the songs of the birds, and the rushing of waters.

(2) It’s conveniently located about 25 min South of Cannon Beach and only 12 min from the adorable beach town of Manzanita. You can have the best of beach and forest! 🌊🌲

(3) It’s magical! ✨🧚🏼‍♀️✨ There is no denying the magic of this forest. Everyone who visits mentions it. You’ll feel it the moment you arrive.

✨The forest came alive for this magical elopement shoot. It turned out so pretty and was featured in 💖

THE NUMBER ONE MISTAKE couples make when getting married on the Oregon Coast…

It may sound simple but checking the tide tables before choosing your date and time of ceremony is VERY important.

I can’t tell you the number of times a couple will send a pic of a location they love only to find out that it will be completely under water on the date & time of their ceremony. 😭

Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and the rotation of the earth and can be dramatically different from day to day (weather is also a factor).

Certain popular wedding locations must be accessed at a very low tide (less than 3 ft). Others can only be accessed at a negative tide.

Before you set the time and location of the ceremony make sure to consult the tide tables (which can be found online) or work with a local wedding vendor who can help you determine the best place and time for your ceremony! Like us! 🙋🏻‍♀️

We always provide our clients with a detailed outline that includes the tide level at the time of their ceremony, and whether it is ascending or descending.

Hug Point (pictured) is one of those locations that is tide dependent.

What you should know about Hug Point! ❤️

Hug Point is know for its breathtaking beauty & diversity of photogenic scenes (majestic rock formations and caves, the waterfall, trees, cliffs, an old stagecoach road, etc).

If you are getting married there during high season (June-Sept)you should know that parking can be a bit of a nightmare. 🙄

To avoid having to park a quarter mile down the road (meaning the highway!) it’s best to get there either before noon or after 5pm especially on weekends to avoid the “day trippers” who spend all day on the beach.

Carpooling or hiring a shuttle is another option. I’ve had couples who rent a shuttle to take guests to and from Cannon Beach. It works great! 👍

Remember also that the state park department does not issue permits at this location during the months between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

This means if you want to have more than 50 guests, or any kind of structures on the beach (chairs, an arbor, a floral moon gate, etc), you should be looking at early spring to late fall for the wedding day.

Lastly, be sure to check the tide tables for your date and time! There are many places at Hug Point that are not accessible during high tide.

Help with logistics like these is included in our services! 🤩

“Hi” to all my new friends! It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself. My name is Carolyn and I am a Wedding Officiant & Celebrant.

Did you know that I live in a rainforest on the beautiful Oregon Coast?

It is a very special place because it belonged to my mom for 33 years. She passed away almost 2 years ago and I have been caring for her forest, house, and her fur companion Dreya.

Dreya and I grieved together and now we have completely fallen in love (at least I have 😂). Even though she can be a bratty howler when she doesn’t get her way. Lol

As a Celebrant, I have studied the art of creating and facilitating ceremonies (yes there is actually a school for this - the Celebrant Institute), and I love creating personalized ceremonies for couples in love.🥰

A ceremony can be transformative and life changing, it can bring tears of joy and laughter. It allows you to acknowledge your story and the transitions in your life, including the growth and changes you experience on your personal and collective journey.

I feel so blessed to work with some of the most creative and all around amazing people in the industry, and doubly grateful to call many of them friends.

I also facilitate rainforest healing ceremonies (see my website. Link in bio)! ✨🧚🏼‍♀️✨

One of my favorite moments of a ceremony is introducing you as a newly married couple!

Whether you plan to change your name or not, we always ask how you would like to be introduced. Even if it’s just the two of you and a couple of witnesses, let’s celebrate this once in a lifetime moment! 🎉💕
Working with all these amazingly talented Creatives was such a dream! 😍

“Don’t you know yet? It’s your light that lights the world” - Rumi ✨ 💖 ✨

I’m finding that I am really drawn to images with “luminous light” right now. Maybe it’s because we are smack in the middle of gloomy winter on the Oregon Coast. Every once in a while, we get a tease of springtime, and I yearn for the light. This sunrise ceremony felt like a dream ☺️

3 reasons why you should have a sunrise ceremony on the Oregon Coast…

1. No crowds. You’ll have the beach all to yourself!

2. Parking is not a problem. Most parking lots fill up after 11am during high season.

3. It’s the most dreamy & mystical time of the day. Just look at these pictures! ☺️

Meet Adria!🤩 Adria Badagnani joined the Officiant team at Oregon Beach Ceremonies in 2023 and is now accepting new clients for the 2024 season. The reviews are in and her clients LOVE her! ❤️

Adria is a gifted Ceremonialist, mother, artist, writer, friend, and just an all-around lovely & genuine human being. 🥰

I asked her some questions about herself and here’s what she said …

Q. How would you describe your vibe?

A. Warm, compassionate, sometimes sassy with a sharp sense of humor - like a cup of tea on roller skates. 🫖 🛼

Q. Why did you decide to become a Wedding Officiant? Why Oregon Beach Ceremonies?

A. Becoming a wedding officiant marries my skills/gifts as a dedicated ceremonialist, and writer. Oregon Beach Ceremonies has a wonderful reputation with focus on creating custom-written ceremonies for their wedding couples, and I knew my passion for writing would have an inspired home here. ✍🏼 💍

Q. How long have you been a Ceremonialist / Priestess?

A. I studied ritual in performance as a focus area during my undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as writing and directing. I was called to the Priestess path in the Celtic lineage in 2018, and continue to immerse myself in the creation and facilitation of ceremonies for a wide range of life transitions, including weddings and seasonal celebrations. 🫖🪄

Q. What is your favorite way to connect with a couple prior to their wedding day?

A. Most couples are planning their elopements and weddings from out of state, and we are able to connect over video platforms. Through a series of consultation calls and questionnaires, I get to know a couple and connect with their vision and ideas, how they met/got engaged, and sense of humor, which inspires what I write into their ceremony to truly reflect and amplify the resonance of their love story. 💖

This cliffside elopement spot will take your breath away!

But it’s not for everyone. Here are some things to consider about this location:

(1) Keep it small. This spot is ideal for very intimate elopements (meaning the couple, photographer, officiant, and a few guests.

(2) Slippery when wet (or not wet)! To get here you need to walk down a steep mountain slope (and back up again)! Even in dry conditions the pathways of gravel and lose dirt can be slippery. Avoid this location during inclement weather (rain & wind) and wear your hiking shoes. 🥾 You can switch to sandals when you get there!

(3) Check with your guests (photographer & officiant first)! Some people are not comfortable with heights and this spot has a serious drop off. Not recommended for young children, dogs, or anyone with mobility limitations, or a fear of heights.

I’m still in awe of how DREAMY this elopement was! It felt like we were transported into a mystical fairytale. ✨🧚🏼‍♀️✨💖

I often get asked what a CUSTOMIZED CEREMONY looks like, and this is a perfect example! ✨💖

At Oregon Beach Ceremonies, our collaborative process for a customized ceremony begins months before your ceremony date.

Through conversations and questionnaires, we work with you from a distance to create a ceremony that is unique and meaningful to the two of you.

I love that Kristine & Dean thought of every little detail including printing their ceremony’s order of elements!

Their customized ceremony included their favorite music, readings & passages that represented their faith, advice and feedback on their vows to each other, a Handfasting ceremony, and their love story which is a central piece of every ceremony. ❤️

They also chose a “first dance” after the ceremony which was a lovely way for them to have a private moment to themselves as husband and wife. 🥰

Donna and Marti escaped the Texas heat to have an intimate barefoot elopement on the Oregon Coast!

They wanted a private location near Cannon Beach and this spot turned out to be absolutely perfect. We even found a lone beachcomber who happily agreed to be their second witness.

Everything aligned for them, even the weather cooperated with a spectacular sunset! 🤩

Can we talk about rain? 💁🏻‍♀️🌧️☔️

It’s a topic you must address if you’re getting married in Oregon! Here are four tips to consider about rain on your wedding day:

#1 Wait it out. A common saying in Oregon is “if you don’t like the weather wait five minutes.” The weather changes constantly here. There could be rain & wind one minute and sun & a rainbow the next!

#2 Bring umbrellas! I have 4 clear bubble umbrellas.

#4 Plan B - If you are NOT a fan of getting wet on your special day (no judgement here) then you should definitely look at having an alternate plan. This could be renting a venue, having it at your Airbnb or hotel, or even a cozy yurt in the forest (I know of one). 🛖🌲

Photographer Nadia was a rockstar at Lane & Rae’s super stormy ceremony! These pics are amazing (and they totally embraced the rain)!👏😍

Who else has been binge-watching The Bachelorette?

One of my favorite real-life wedding moments was when Laura surprised Sarah with a rose ceremony during their elopement. She even had one of the guests play the host! 😂

Personalized moments like this are what you and your guests will cherish and remember about your ceremony. ❤️

It’s okay to be creative, laugh, and have fun on your wedding day. In fact, I highly recommend it!
