There was a good turnout in Carnforth yesterday for the parade and ceremony at Carnforth war memorial, where grandson of Lord Cavendish who unveiled it exactly 100 years ago gave a speech, along with dignitaries.

Returned to the Light Up Lancaster event last night to bag a couple of things I missed on Friday. My favourite piece of artwork was undoubtedly 'Monad' a Norwegian 3D projection depicting fire, air, water and earth over the canal; very impressive. To finish off I checked out the musical projection 'Leap' outside the Judges Lodgings museum. Looking forward to next year's already!

Just back from checking out this year's Light Up Lancaster event in town. Only got to see a few highlights but may go back for the final night tomorrow (although it competes with 'Strictly'!). Here's a few of my snaps to add to the multitude on social media. Favourite attraction?,,, Learning about Lancaster's 100-year-old Standfast Dyers.

I couldn't resist posting this photo of Lester with the longest 'tickling stick' I've ever seen. It was after I mentioned on Saturday that the hotel sign had a acquired a lot of cobwebs. Albeit that Halloween is approaching I didn't think it would help the wedding photos. Good old Lester took action on our behalf!

One last time…. My final wedding at favorite venue Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Course and my last joint booking with videographer friend Lester Goddard of Clear Image Productions. Looking forward to Lela & Mathew’s big day. One more wedding booking to go after this before I hang up my camera! Feeling nostalgic!

I've seen some amazing shots of the Northern Lights last night. The first colourful but blurry shot from my back garden inspired me to grab my tripod and head out. Photoshop only used to correct exposure by the way (honest photographer that I am!). Here's my modest effort.

Another of my favourite viewpoints, looking over Sunderland Point from Glasson village on the other side of the River Lune. I had planned to snap the Isle Of Man ferry passing over the rooftops, but it sailed early! Lost in mist, Morecambe Bay is in the background, in case you're wondering what I am talking about!

In Liverpool today snapping visiting Queen Mary 2 and looking forward to being onboard in six months! Best place to view the ship was undoubtedly from a Mersey Ferry as well as from the top of St John's Tower.

Not quite Olympic medals but here's mine!... Inspired to get fit again after restarting jogging this week. Feeling a tad rusty though! I used to be quite a good long distance runner and I'm showing off my collection of running medals (finishing not winning by the way!). The proudest one undoubtedly was the London Marathon in 2005. I vowed to run it before I was 40 and did (in a very respectable 3 hours 48 mins). It all started with a half marathon forty years ago in 1984 in Ayr, followed by several more halfs over the years before 2005.

After a near two year wait (availability and weather) I finally got airborne yesterday on a hot air balloon flight up the Lune Valley. Amazing experience! Several of my snaps from today's Heysham Viking Festival. I would have included some of the parade through the village, but apparently and unfortunately they set off well ahead of the advertised time and I missed it. Either way, it must have been pretty hot under all that gear. This popular annual event is repeated tomorrow (Sunday).

Enjoying yesterday's Carnforth Carnival ably hosted by Beyond Radio. Long time since I've been to this event, with the last time for Lancaster Guardian. Pleased to see it still going strong, albeit in a reduced format from how it used to be.

I was delighted to have been booked to cover the D Day anniversary beacon lighting event outside Morecambe Town Hall last night. Poignant and moving.
