My favourite moment or my favourite photo from wedding day is definately the confetti photo. I just love it. Go big or go home!

I like to create two lines of guests each side forming a gauntlet that brings all guests to gather in anticipation as I give the cue to the newlyweds to step into the spotlight, the atmosphere transforms into a magical celebration as I watch them being showered with a cascade of confetti. I like to think of each piece a sprinkle is love sent from their cherished friends and family. A truly great moment.

Here are just a handful of my favourite confetti shots

Focus on what brings you joy and happiness

I get it 100% you want a picture perfect day. Every couple faces the pressure of creating the perfect day but remember: it’s not just about the wedding; it’s about the love that brought you here so don't give yourself unnecessary pressure to create a dream wedding for your friends and loved ones, they just want to spend time with you.

"We immediately knew Sian was the right fit for us"

It's always lovely to get a testimonial from one of your couples. Priska & Oliver tied the knot at Fitzrovia Chapel and had their wedding reception at the fabulous Dartmouth House.

Here is what my couple had to say:

Sian is an incredibly warm-hearted, open-minded, and professional wedding planner who goes above and beyond.

We found Sian via Hitched. After having a few virtual calls with various wedding planners, we immediately knew Sian was the right fit for us.

Her can-do attitude and openness are fantastic, and she provided us with a wealth of great recommendations and excellent options for a variety of suppliers. She truly considers every detail.

We highly recommend Sian, particularly for couples planning a wedding from abroad, as we did.

WORRIED ABOUT RAIN ON YOUR BIG DAY?

I get it, you’ve dreamed of your perfect wedding day, and it’s finally here. The venue is stunning, everything is in place and you’re surrounded by loved ones—until dark clouds roll in and rain begins to fall.

Embracing the unexpected can add a touch of magic to your special day, transforming it into something memorable for you and your guests. So, why not put aside the worry and explore how to turn that drizzle into delightful memories? A beautiful wet wedding is entirely possible with the right approach and some advance planning!

So discuss any back up plans early on so everyone knows what to expect if the weather turns and importantly add any extra time you need in your timeline to cope with the change of plan, so not just enough to have a back up location for any of your outdoor elements you need to plan a wet weather timeline too.

Not all your guests are local to your venue so maybe consider sending out a heads-up to your guests about potential rain and encourage them to bring brollies OR let them know if you are are providing umbrellas.

Keeping everyone informed creates a more relaxed atmosphere, allowing you all to focus on celebrating love rather than worrying about some rain drops

Consider getting a clear umbrellas. They're not just practical; they create a better look in photographs too

Remember, embracing the rain with preparation will turn potential challenges into unforgettable memories for you and your loved ones on this special day and you may even catch a rainbow!

For those at the beginning of your planning, your venue choice is important if you are choosing an outdoor ceremony or plan for drinks on the beautiful lawns they offer. Choosing one with both indoor and outdoor options that offers flexibility is key to allow you to adapt seamlessly if rain decides to make an appearance.
Are you worried about the weather on your big day?

DEBUNK THE MYTH..

It’s time to define the unique roles of independent wedding planners and venue coordinators, as they each bring invaluable expertise to your special day!

Many couples believe that a wedding planner and a venue coordinator perform identical functions. While there may be some overlap, it's important to highlight the distinctive contributions we each make.

When you choose an independent wedding planner, you're enlisting a dedicated professional, that has experience with many venues, who provides personalised guidance and support throughout your planning journey.

We work closely with you to transform your vision into reality, offering tailored recommendations for suppliers that perfectly match your unique style and budget. Our attention to detail ensures that everything from suppliers installations to timelines is meticulously checked and managed allowing you to relax . We understand your needs, so by the time your wedding day arrives, we are familiar with every single aspect of your day, ensuring a seamless experience.

The venue coordinator are an essential part of the venue's team, responsible for managing specific logistics related to the venue itself. They ensure smooth operations regarding catering, setup, and adherence to the venue's policies. While they may provide a list of preferred suppliers, their role is primarily focused on the venue’s infrastructure and guidelines.

The venue coordinator you interact with on your wedding day may not be the same person you communicated with during your planning stages, and will operate based on directives from the sales team.

Both independent wedding planners and venue coordinators play vital roles in orchestrating a successful wedding. Each brings unique skills and knowledge to the table, and together, we collaborate to create an unforgettable experience for you and your loved ones.

I hope this distinction helps you understand the essential partnership between us. When we work together, we can craft the ultimate wedding day!

FACTS ABOUT ME...

So today I thought I would share a little about myself with you. The person behind BusyBrides

When I was a young girl I attended Ballroom/Latin Classes and I won various awards . I had the most amazing dresses made just for me. I did Ballet, Tap, Gymnastics, went to Brownies and Guides, attended Salvation Army for 12 years. There really wasn't much that I hadn't done as a child. I've probably missed some...

I started work at around 12 years of age (the days we were allowed) in the library cafe. I ran shoe parties for my neighbour that gave me a huge love for shoes. I worked at Grosvenor Rock factory every summer for 6 weeks (in the stock room, because I wasn't old enough to be in the main factory) I loved that job!

As an adult, I carried on dancing and took up Salsa and even turned by hand to Lambada. I spent much of my youth from my 20's to my 40's in and out of clubs and enjoying everything that life could throw at me.

I've traveled the world extensively. I've visited Thailand, South Africa, India, America, Africa, Middle East, Europe, you name it, I've been there... I've been to yoga holidays across the globe that took me to places that domestic holidays don't reach. I have been visiting a boot camp in Koh Samui for over 20 years. Keeps my weight in check.

Now I'm in my 50's I'm a tad more settled. Still love my Yoga, no kids but two incredibly loyal dogs who love me for me! Needless to say my luxury lifestyle has changed. If you have dogs, you know! but they are my world ;-) Fancy holidays are no more... but I am self confessed workaholic and can't sit still for long.

Oh an I had a hip replacement in my 40's. Probably all that dancing I did. if you look at this photo, you can even see where the hospital left me with a longer leg than my original so now all my trouser suits fall a different lengths. 🤣 Along with the inability to wear any of those amazing stilettoes I own. Now I just look at them. 😆

So that's a more personal side to me. I'm sure this is only half that I can remember, but hopefully a little insight to my world.

THREE BENEFITS OF AN AUTUMN WEDDING

An autumn wedding in the UK can be a truly magical experience! This also happens to be my favourite season.

1. My number one reason is that Autumn brings with it a stunning array of colours. All the shades of leaves that change from green to vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold. This natural beauty can create a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photos. I'll tell you what else I love too, when I walk the dogs, I absolutely love the smell of fallen leaves. I know, It's weird! I wish I could bottle it.

2. It brings with it the milder weather. There is nothing more taxing on your day than melting in 80 degree heat in wedding attire, I know I married myself in August - on the hottest day of the year. The weather in the UK during autumn is often extremely pleasant, especially in September and early October. This means you can still enjoy your outdoor elements without the extreme heat of summer or the chill of winter, making it super comfortable for you and your guests. Let's not forget there will also be less bugs flying around in the cooler weather which can be a nuisance

3. Better availability of Venues. Whilst this time of year is becoming far more popular there are still many venues that tend to have more availability in the autumn compared to the peak summer months. As a result, you might have more flexibility in choosing your preferred location, and you may even find better rates.

THREE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT A SUMMER WEDDING

Longer days has to be first on my list especially as I often plan multi cultural / muti ceremony events.

It give us more more daylight to consider two ceremonies without having to rush through your day an then it's far more relaxing then trying to cram everything in to beat the light.

I do love a Baraat in the summer. Whilst it is always so much fun it is much nicer in the summer time. Guests are much more invested in the moment and having fun when it's sunny and having to be outside.

Also summer is the most popular time for a marquee weddings and I DO love planning a marquee wedding. Anything goes when it comes to a marquee wedding... either a stylish traditional wedding or a rustic vibe, muted tones or full of colour, the styling options are endless.

What are your favourite things about a summer wedding?

WANT A WEDDING HACK TO SAVE YOU £000's

If you are on a tight budget (or even if you are not), if you choose an off peak wedding month you can save thousands of your venues fees. The seasons definitely seem to be changing, so take advantage of having a potential sunny wedding day in March or October, or just plan for a fabulous winter wedding.

AND if you consider having your wedding during on a weekday too, you can save even more.

Last year I planned a wedding at a venue that was over £10k cheaper on a Thursday than it was on the Saturday (in peak wedding season).

Don't miss the opportunity of booking your dream wedding venue by booking off-peak, or think of putting that extra £10k into your budget for entertainment or towards your honeymoon.

WHY I DISLIKE BALLOONS FOR WEDDINGS...

I will agree, if done well, that they can look nice and in the right places, like this welcome sign, although whilst all neatly packed together, it did blow over a handful of times - but if having dotted around a marquee/tipi (like photo 2), then I really advice against it.

This wedding was in a tipi with a beautiful open front with nd balloons as the table decor and with the free flowing wind they just don't work. I must have reset them 100 times without exaggeration as the wind just blows them over. By the time guests were seated, they were all over the place and impossible to control.

I also once had gigantic balloons that had Mr & Mrs, before you know it, the Mrs has popped leaving a Mr hanging around on it's own.

They just don't work well in the open air and because of that I just don't like them. They will make any design look unkept with a small gust of wind.

What's your thoughts on free flowing balloons in a tipi?

ADVICE FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY

It is really important that if any part of your wedding day is outside that you have a wet weather plan. Consider where else you can hold your ceremony, your welcome drinks, have your photos, do your confetti photo, and consider what can you delay until a break in the weather.

In the UK we have absolutely no guarantees that we will get a beautiful sunny day in July or August just because it's summer.

Last year we had glorious weather most of July, until this one day the heavens opened up. My amazing Bride took it all in her stride and still had a fabulous day and we had fun too, but always best to be prepared! We had wet weather plans for every part of the day bar the very short walk to the church, hence the myriad of brollies!!

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

WHY I AM A WEDDING PLANNER

Finding your purpose can be a life-changing journey. It’s not just about what you do, it’s about understanding why you do it.

It was almost 30 years ago when I planned my first ever corporate event but it was when I planned my wedding 17 years ago that my coordinator said I was the most organised Bride she had experienced in all her 22 years in the industry. I knew then that one day bringing others dream wedding day to life was going to be my passion.

Being a wedding planner is more than just a career; it is a thrilling adventure and I believe that every wedding should be an extraordinary celebration.

My role as a wedding planner allows me to weave together the visions of couples, transforming their aspirations into breathtaking realities, all while ensuring that each moment runs smoothly. As you can see from my pictures, there is nothing I won't do to make sure that they day is perfect in every way, even a bit of hoovering 😂

The thrill of planning starts with hearing your dreams, dissecting your visions, and sharing in the excitement of choosing your perfect venue, flowers, and styling. Whether it's a rustic barn or an classic fairytale wedding, I thrive on the challenge of creating a setting that feels both personal and unique. Collaborating with exceptional suppliers, knowing together we will all create something truly spectacular just for you.

As a wedding planner, I am also a master problem solver. Each event comes with its own set of challenges, whether adjusting timelines or managing last-minute changes. My heart races with excitement and with every glitch there is a chance to showcase my problem solving skills to find a successful solution.

But above all, what fuels my passion is witnessing my couples on their wedding day. The magical moment when they see their dream wedding come to life, their faces lighting up as they walk down the aisle, surrounded by loved ones—is indescribable. It is a reminder of why I do what I do. In those moments, I realize that I’m not just planning events; I’m playing a vital role in orchestrating memories that will last a lifetime.
