The Spanish Dance Society is thrilled to launch its 60th Anniversary Celebration with a Flamenco course led by Ramón Fernández from Spain. This event will take place on January 19, 2025, at ProArte School in Alphen Park, Pretoria.
Ramon was born in South Africa to a family steeped in Flamenco and Jazz artistry. His mother is both a dancer and a teacher, while his father plays the guitar. Before following his passion for dance, he devoted himself to tennis.
In 2016, Ramón relocated to Spain to study Flamenco under renowned artists like Pedro Córdoba and Inmaculada Ortega. His experiences performing in tablaos ignited his passion for Flamenco, allowing him to rapidly reach the level of bailaor.
In 2020, he launched his professional journey alongside Pedro Córdoba at Amor de Dios, sharing the stage with notable artists such as Choro Molina and Ángel Gabarre. He regularly performs at prestigious tablaos in Madrid, including El Cardamomo and Las Tablas, and has also showcased his talent in Granada, Málaga, and Valencia.
At present, Ramón collaborates with renowned artists like Karime Amaya and Jesús Carmona. He has made guest appearances in the musical "Olé-Olá," produced by the Cristina Hoyos Company, and has served as a representative of the Spanish Embassy in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Currently, Ramón is part of the Ángel Rojas Company and recently achieved finalist status in the Seville EC Flamenco competition.
Beyond his performances, he also teaches at multiple flamenco schools in Madrid and has led masterclasses in Gran Canaria and Africa. Ramon Fernandez
