He’s no new-comer, having played at venues big and small since the early '80's, for all sorts of public and private occasions such as family celebrations, corporate events and festivals, alongside live acts and other DJ's. His Parliament-Funkadelic collective (which primarily recorded under the distinct band names Parliament and Funkadelic) developed an influential and eclectic form of funk music during the 1970s that drew on science fiction, outlandish fashion, psychedelia, and surreal humor. He launched his solo career with the 1982 album Computer Games and would go on to influence 1990s hip hop and G-funk.

I'm still in my phase of discovering the legend Otis Redding. There was more to him than the big hitters and the festival performances.
Despite leaving us while still young and right on the cusp of superstardom, he made a huge impression on the soul scene of his time, and on pop music in general, and today, his influence on contemporary soul music continues.
He will always be an enigma to me and others, not only because of his short life, but because he was one of those rare musicians who could summons the spiritual power of true 'soul' music, and channel it through his powerful voice for us all to feel and enjoy.
