InSoundOut is a new concert series celebrating the diversity of improvised music. This edition will focus on female bandleaders and musicians.
This first edition will take place during London Jazz Festival ’14 at Servant Jazz Quarters. It is curated by saxophonist and composer Julie Kjær and arranged in collaboration with Servant Jazz Quarters and London Jazz Festival. I’ve chosen this focus because I believe it’s very important for female artists to get more visibility. I thought the London Jazz Festival would be a good place to start.
The musicians chosen for this programme are all very active and are making a impact on the UK and London jazz scene. They are interesting and innovative players and composers and their music represents different sides of jazz and improvised music. I’m very excited to introduce this programme. Julie Kjær
