Old Hall in East Bergholt celebrated its 50th anniversary this weekend and I had the pleasure in returning to the place I grew up to perform my act as DONIMO THE SILENT CLOWN.

The festivities were vibrant, filled with laughter, nostalgia, and a deep sense of community. It was heartwarming to see familiar faces and meet new ones, all gathered to commemorate this special milestone.

As a Magician I get to entertain in many beautiful venues in the UK and Haughley Park Weddings & Events is one of my favourites in the heart of Suffolk. The house, built during the reign of King James 1, has a very rich history that includes two major fires, five families, the threat of demolition, and almost being turned into a zoo in the 1950s. But there’s something distinctive about being at this magical venue. Perhaps it’s the caring way Robert Williams and his family have lovingly restored the house and barn. Robert Williams says’ “Yes, it is our home, but it is also an important part of Suffolk’s rural heritage..
There’s such a cherished atmosphere with stunning grounds and a very charming and open feel to the restored barn. Every time I work with Mandy and her friendly team, I am always amazed by how they create such a seamless and relaxed atmosphere to the day and always with genuine smiles. This past weekend, I had the delight of entertaining Hannah and Jay and the family on their wedding day at the Haughley Park Barn. Such an adorable couple with a very proud family who were a delight to entertain. Of course, Saturday was also an important day for England football fans. So the team at Haughley Park conjured up a full screen projector so everyone could watch England vs Switzerland. As the raucous cheers went up for England, Hannah and Jay shared their first dance.

I was proud to be part of the celebration of storytelling and children’s theatre at the ‘Word on the Street’ festival last weekend in Clacton.

The outdoor event run by Manningtree’s Grand Theatre of Lemmings and the Tendring Cultural Education Partnership, with support from Tendring District Council, Arts Council England and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Why is magic so popular? Is it because it mystifies and makes us wonder? Or perhaps it reminds us that miracles can happen and are possible. Have you ever had the thought, “I need a miracle”. Just say the magic word “Abracadabra” and the magic happens. Even this well known magical spell contains an ancient mystery. It’s believed to derive from an Arabic word also recognised in Hebrew, “Evra Kaadaber” which means “To create with my speech”

Perhaps the idea of magic exists with us throughout life because popular fairy tales, folklore, legends, and even religions have woven it into our popular belief. According to Carl Jung, all magic, miracles, and what he terms as parapsychological happenings have one ingredient in common: an attitude of hopeful expectancy on the part of the participants.

As we delve into the timeless fascination with magic, it’s clear that its allure runs deep within our collective consciousness, and as a magician and artist I am dedicated to bringing this sense of wonder and mystery to live events of all kinds, so let’s weave a touch of magic into your next celebration, just say the word and watch as Magic Happens!

I have seen him perform twice, the last time at my birthday party. He totally enchanted the guests. Recently, I had the honour of performing for a remarkable gentleman celebrating his 100th birthday. Surrounded by his loving family, he was as mesmerized by the wonders of magic as any child.

In moments like these, I’m reminded of Albert Einstein’s timeless wisdom: “Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere.” ✨ Magic, with its ability to suspend disbelief and ignite the imagination, truly knows no bounds.

And here’s a delightful coincidence: both the centenarian and a young boy at a different event, both with hands outstretched in wonder, share the same posture. A testament to the timeless appeal of magic! 🌟💫

I am a world-class performer with a host of awards to my name.

I learned my craft at an early age, had a family magic show before I left school, and honed my craft through the festival circuits in my later teens. This led to multiple summer seasons alongside famous names from the 90’s, like Cannon & Ball, Freddie Star, Cliff Richard, Terry Wogan, and Ken Dodd. I then worked for a range of international cruise lines across the globe.

My work as an international entertainer has also included appearing in and collaborating with large Cirque productions shows across North and South America.
