One last magical moment from S+R's elopement day. To me, this photo represents one of my most rules about designing an elopement day - timing is everything! When I'm building out a timeline I'm not only considering when might be convenient for my couple and any guests they may have, but also how the sun will move through the location at any given time, and how different times of the day might impact visitor density. Considering all the facets the time of day will have on any portion of an elopement day is crucial to helping my couples have the best possible experience. ⁠

I used to be a photographer who was afraid of the dark. No, I don't mean I had to sleep with a nightlight... I mean I was terrified of using flash! It took me so many experiments, hard weddings, and lots and lots of youtube videos to learn to be more comfortable using flash in lots of different scenarios, but I'm so glad I did because now I can take a sh*tty lighting situation that looks cool to human eyes and make it magical in the camera's eye! ⁠

When you ask your family to spend the morning making eco-friendly confetti out of the fallen leaves on the property, and it's 1000% worth it! M+R's ceremony had so many beautiful moments. From the self-written vows shared over the handfasting ritual, to the many many many tears shed by those in attendance, to the super fun celebratory confetti toss at the end... magical is the only way to describe it. ⁠

When M+R first reached out to me, they already had their location set - a small family-only ceremony at the vacation rental where they got engaged, followed by an intimate cocktail reception at their favorite night out spot in Montpelier, Barr Hill. When it comes to Salem, there are a lot of different options, but when I found and recommended I was like "hope this isn't *too* kitschy for them!" Congratulations to Megan and Rowan on their wedding! Their intimate micro-wedding is exactly the kind of day I love to be a part of, and I feel so blessed to have been chosen by them as their photographer. The weather was amazing, the locations stunning, their family and friends phenomenal... and let's not forget the awesomeness of all the cute animals! Aside from the fact that I will always say "YES!" to couples and their dogs (hi Meave!), we also had a surprise petting zoo at one of the locations we went to for photos! How adorable is this baby cow?!?! 😍⁠

Sharing a few more fun and special moments from J+K's elopement day! This past week has been a bit of a whirlwind (in a good way) and I feel so blessed to be able to do this work. Helping couples have meaningful, enjoyable, and stress-free elopement days is incredibly fulfilling for me. So even when stuff is going crazy-town-banana-pants, I'm loving it. Something I love about elopements is that feeling of wonder and exploration. Whether it's on a mountain or in the city, there's always a new discovery, even in familiar places. Like in this photo - I've been to this park before and photographed people there, but I hadn't noticed the inscription on these pillars until yesterday - "Whosoever enters here, let him Beware... for he shall nevermore escape nor be free of my spell." ⁠

I love a good story; it’s one of the main reasons I pursued being an artist. I wanted to tell meaningful stories about the human experience in a visual way. As a wedding photographer, I get to visually tell one of the most important stories about life: the love between two people and the unique expression of their bond as they commit themselves to each other through marriage.
