The Sonoma League for Historic Preservation
The Sonoma League invites you to a series of four educational presentations during 2023:
February 28: ‘So you own or want to buy an historic property. Now what?’
Presentation by Alice Duffee Healy, Professional Preservationist, former president of the Sonoma League, and member of Rotary Club Sonoma Sunrise
April 4: ‘How do you tell if a property is historic or not?’
Presentation by Alice Duffee Healy, Professional Preservationist, former president of the Sonoma League, and member of Rotary Club Sonoma Sunrise
June 8: ‘Plaza History interpreted in videos of artistic collages and historic photographs’
Exhibition of Michael Acker’s collages of all four sides of the historic Sonoma Plaza, followed by four short videos of the Plaza’s four sides. This will then be discussed, and questions answered, by a panel of three of Sonoma’s preeminent historians:
Bill Lynch, former editor-publisher of the Sonoma Index-Tribune and current Sonoma Alcalde
George McKale, Professional Archeologist, former City Historian, and current president of the Sonoma Valley Sister Cities Association
Jim Silverman, Founder of the Sonoma Plaza History Project and creator of the video of the four sides of the Sonoma Plaza
October 19: ‘The fun and frustrations of restoring an historic property’
Tom Thornley, Sonoma Contractor with a long-time experience of restoring historic properties
Alice Duffee Healy, Professional Preservationist, former president of the Sonoma League, and member of Rotary Club Sonoma Sunrise
All events will take place at 6:00 PM and will be held in Room 110 at the Sonoma Community Center. Wine will be served.
The cost for each event is free for Sonoma League members and $10.00 each for non-members. A non-member may join the Sonoma League for $25.00 per individual and then all four events will be free. To join the Sonoma League, go to www.preservesonoma.org.
