You’ve probably noticed how quiet our account has been lately. Truth is, over the past 2 years I completely overbooked, and overworked myself. Towards the end of last year I experienced complete and total burnout and decided to step back from designing. I’m still in the process of recovering and social media is really hard for me. It’s very hard to see all of the friends and contacts I made be all encompassed by this world that gave me so much joy and caused me so much stress and anxiety and realizing I don’t really have a place in it anymore. Self care is so important and maybe someday I’ll be back doing flowers. But for now I’ll just keep growing and healing. To all of my fellow flower grinders: take care of yourself

PEONIES! It’s that time of year! Peonies like tulips have to be checked on multiple times a day. Obviously I missed a few and they blew while I was taking my kids to swim lessons 🙈. Some people get freaked out by the ants that crawl on them but it’s actually a mutualistic relationship. The ants eat the sweet sap that the buds secrete and the ants in turn protect the buds from flower loving insects. So if you get some of my peonies and they have ants it’s a good thing. Here’s to peony season! 🎉

So proud of our accomplishment this week! Our first ranunculus market of the season was today and we took over 320 stems. Last year our first market was abismal and our stems were short. Some of our ranunculus this season are over 2’! It’s been so rewarding watching everyone buying our stems at the market. I can’t wait to see what everyone creates with them, and the joy they will bring to others.

Our first harvested ranunculus of the season! We have so many buds that are just begining to turn, and some are so close to being ready to harvest. This cold spring has been so frustrating but look at this lady 😍!

Our ranunculus are being shy! Everyday I’m out in the ranunculus tunnel trying to coax them into blooming. Their stems are getting ridiculously long, but the blossoms are being stubborn. Someday they’ll gain the confidence they need to show off how amazing they are and bloom their little hearts out. For now I’ll allow them time, but go stir crazy inside.

More and more ranunculus are reaching up their little buds and some are beginning to change colors! It always feel like the calm before the storm this time of year, but I know the craziness is coming!

I think it’s finally spring! We’ve had a hard time adjusting to the heat over here. Cody’s been trying to find all the cool dark places to nap in but the flowers are THRIVING!!! Can’t wait to see more ranunculus pop up and put these gorgeous anemone to shame.

Spring. Spring seems to be a fleeting concept this year. Every time I think it’s going to finally warm up it snows. Luckily we finally have some spring crops getting ready to harvest.

***CLOSED 2023***

I’ve decided to close up wedding and event floral design for the 2023 season. I may be back to flowering someday, I may not. There are a LOT of reasons that went into this decision but it comes down to doing what’s best for me and my family and dealing with heavy burnout and health problems. I’ve truly enjoyed flowering the past few years but am looking forward to other adventures and family time. We will still be growing flowers for the 2023 season with but that’s as far as the flowering will be this next year.

Those ranunculus tho 🤩. I’m a big fan of the mix between fresh and dried floral. I feel like that’s how nature is anyway, there’s often something dead or dying next to something thriving.

Happy Easter!

Everything in this arrangement was sourced from our farm here in downtown Ogden.

Pear branches, poppies, ranunculus, anemone, pansies, tulips, with a few extra goodies from the garden.

Though we are not religious we are happy to celebrate with others today.

Not excited for the cold weather this week. Ecstatic about the chance of some moisture. We are in a massive drought in here in Utah, and have been for a couple years. Hoping we can add a little buffer to our water stores with this storm before spring decides to switch into summer.

My creative space! Love it! ❤️

Okay let’s talk for a second about how much I don’t like asiatic lilies. This one stumped me and I spent 3 hours putting together and ripping apart designs before I just put the lilies in a new vase and stared at them. Their shape was beautiful and I decided doing too much and adding too much was going to ruin their simple beauty. So I went with something a little different and I really like it. It’s not your typical arrangement with lilies and that made me happy. It’s fun figuring out my style and my how I design. I still don’t love lilies but I am determined to make them my b$%&h. . . . . . #farmerflorist #asiaticlily
