Our luxury pole-tents are hand crafted in York with painstaking attention to detail, using the very best materials available, by a small team of passionate artisans.
With a contemporary take on a classic British design our beautiful marquees compliment and enhance the special occasions they were designed for. Our swooping canvas canopies will bring a timeless elegance to your celebration.
The original sailcloth
Modern sails are made from synthetic materials ranging from nylon and polyester through to carbon fibre. These 21st century composites may be perfect for rounding Cape Horn but they’d make for a very humid and oppressive pole-tent!
Our marquees are manufactured from a more traditional sailcloth material, poly-cotton canvas, which is sourced in Britain from the world’s leading specialist in waxed cotton (they also supply luxury fashion brands Barbour and Belstaff).
This evocative, breathable, fabric creates an enchanting atmosphere for you to forge lifelong memories... And ensures that your guests will remain cool on even the warmest summers day. For chilly autumn evenings we can supply heaters to keep everyone warm.
Come wind or rain
We can’t guarantee the weather but we can at least assure you that our canvas has been sympathetically finished to meet British Standards for water resistance and fire retardancy.
And while our tents may appear classically traditional they were designed in conjunction with an independent structural engineer and are rated to withstand gusting (gale force) wind speeds up to 60 mph.
Sustainability
The Jim in JimJimmy has three young children. Jimmy has two daughters. Our business serves purpose not profit. Sure, profit is really important but more important is ensuring that our children grow up to enjoy the wonders of wildlife and nature that we ourselves have enjoyed. Environmental and ethical considerations guide our decision-making and actions.
