Sam and her babies.
This may seem like a simple shot, but here is why I love it.

In it I see Sam - a mother, as she holds her two babies, a protector as she holds them close and a powerhouse of a woman who not only is ready do anything she can for her children, but also is strong and talented in her own right. Thank you for having me photograph you and your babies, Sam. You are incredible.

Literally gasped editing this. On your wedding day I love taking you out for 10 minutes at sunset just the two of you. Why? COS THE LIGHT IS LIKE THIS!!! It's my bloody favourite. But I also don't want to take you away from your guests for too long either, so we'll make it short, sharp, snappy but beautiful.

Towards the end of our photo session we saw the moon and this little one replied "Can you please take a photo of me with the moon?" Absolutely!

Watching toddlers discover the world is my favourite thing to watch and to capture. They really show us how much goodness there is in the world. It's so beautiful to watch. Having a bad day? Go and follow a toddler down a creek. You'll see things you've never seen before.

These two needed their own place on my grid. I've been trying to make sure I get a photo of the parents by themselves during a family session. It's important to remember that before your kids came along, it was you two first. You also deserve to be celebrated.

Adam and Ellen. Married for 10 years. Together for many more. 2 kids. Incredible humans who have dedicated their lives to helping others. Hilarious and gosh, how model material are they?!! I wanna be you when I'm older.

Today is Mother's Day. Today I ran the Mother's Day classic 8km race - my first running race as a mum. My first race since a HECTIC and loooong recovery from giving birth over 2 years ago. I never thought I'd be able to run again, so this feels very momentous and I'm so proud of myself. To those mum's in the thick of recovery rocking babies, suffering through sleep deprivation and navigating your new body - I see you. It's so hard. You are doing an amazing job.

To those who long to be mothers - I see you. It's so incredibly hard being in that place. I know it deeply. Sending you so much love.

To my own mum - I love you so much. I am in awe of you. Thank you for your love, guidance and strength.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mum's out there. Never forget that you are doing a great job.

Grooms crying on their wedding day just does something to me. It is incredibly beautiful and moving. I feel so honoured to be part of such a vulnerable moment. I remember when I walked down the aisle and saw Will for the first time bawling his eyes out. It is a moment that I'll never forget and fills me with so much love even almost 8 years later.

We live in a society where men are taught from a young age to withhold their emotions. I'm so glad that men like Rob (and Will) and others in our generation are changing that. The love the Rob has for Nerissa is unending. It was so obvious even as we took the wedding prep photos that he was so ecstatic to marry his love. Thank you for being so vulnerable Rob and for paving the way for a new kind of man.

"Bye Nanny and Pappa"

My March series. I am being intentional each month and taking the time to slow down and take photos just for me. I want to work on my creativity, thinking outside the box and my editing; while ensuring that I capture memories for me and my family.

It was really hard to narrow down my March images (I may share more later), but these 3 are my favourite. Back in early March we went to Adelaide for a dear friend's wedding and my parents waved at us on the plane as we flew back to Melbourne. T was saying bye to them as we left. He also flew for the first time in his own seat and let me tell you that is a game changer; albeit more expensive than when he sat in my lap.

One of my best friends also came over last month and sat for ages drawing with chalk in the driveway with T. She doesn't have her own kids but still loves him like her own. It melts my heart.

I don't know why, but I don't share a lot of ceremony photos. And really, the ceremony is the most important part of a wedding day. I love this photo of Ash and Tash after they were declared a married couple. The joy on their faces and those of their loved ones is unmatched.
I always say to my couples as they prepare for their wedding day, at the end of the day the most important thing is that you get married. And you will! You can't control the weather. You can't control traffic. No matter what happens, you will get married and have a wonderful beginning as a married couple.

Something I love capturing on a wedding day is a pull back shot of the room where everyone is getting ready. I love capturing things exactly as they are and am not really into moving stuff too much so that it looks 'perfect'. Life isn't perfect and your wedding day won't be either (hate to break it to you, but it will still be magical.)

Here we have the wonderful Davida of shrinkingvioletmakeup doing her magic on Nerissa. The bridesmaid's dresses are hanging. You can see much needed coffee cups and just general weddingness around. I love it! Let me know what you think of a shot like this. Would you want something like this?

We are having a family session with the beautiful Abi from @tangerinecreative this evening and I wanted to share some thoughts about outfits. Now as a photographer I kinda stress a touch about my outfit, but I sat back and actually thought about what I wanted from the session (and what I had shared with Abi) and it was this - I wanted photos of my family in our favourite place around our home, that captured where we are at in this moment in space and time. Thomas is 2, Will and I are in our 30s and our Billy dog is 8. We'll never be in this time and space again and I want it captured however we are exactly today. So, what did I choose to wear? 1. Something I love 2. Something I am super comfy in (I wasn't vibing with my original choice so swapped) 3. Something that will allow me to connect and have fun with Thomas and Will throughout the session that allows me to truly be me. And in all honesty, clothes are just clothes. Photos are about capturing the connection you have with each other at the time and place you are in, in that exact moment. Looking after our planet is something that is really important to me. While Will and I were in New Zealand, we decided to hire an EV (electric vehicle) during our time in the North island. In the near future we are looking at purchasing an EV, so this was an experiment to see what we thought. Check it out. Why Elise Mezner Photography?

Hello and welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Elise. Welcome to Elise Mezner Photography. Back in 2013 I started this little photography business because I realised that life is so fleeting. You grow old and so do the people you love. Things change while we’re busy living our lives, but our most precious moments and memories should stay with us forever. If you think about what you would take if your house caught on fire, most of us would say our photographs. Why? Because these are memories that have been captured forever. They take us back to the exact moment the shutter was clicked. My purpose as your photographer is to capture the personality, the love, and the uniqueness of your family, wedding day or adventure.

When I’m not photographing you and your loved ones, I teach History to teenagers. It’s important to remember where we’ve come from as it helps us understand who we are. It’s incredibly important to me that my clients can remember special moments for years to come – because these moments are what life is about. Currently, I am based out of Melbourne where I live with my husband, Will. I was born and bred in Adelaide and travel there frequently.

Other fun facts about me are: -Tea is known as my lifeline – especially if it is Fairtrade.
