The kookiest kooky goat you’ve ever met. In the arvo you’ll find him napping in the driveway or eating our plants 🌱…. but are they really our plants ? Or his?

He marches around like he owns the place. 🐐 I would say 80% of the reviews from guests to Olive view mention Olly!

PRESIDENTS REPORT 2024

Good Evening everyone.

Thank you all for being here today. It’s an honour to stand before you as the President of the Boonah District Chamber of Commerce. As we gather, I want to reflect on our journey over the past year and share some exciting developments and future plans.
First, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you—our members, partners, and supporters. Your dedication to fostering a vibrant local economy and supporting one another has been incredibly inspiring.

This year has brought both challenges and triumphs. We’ve witnessed our local businesses adapt and innovate, showing remarkable resilience. From successful events that brought our community together to initiatives promoting local shopping, we’ve made significant progress in strengthening our economic landscape.

I’m proud to announce that we’ve expanded our membership, welcoming 26 new businesses this year—an incredible leap from just 4 last year. These new members bring fresh ideas and energy to our Chamber. We’ve also forged valuable partnerships with local organisations and government bodies, ensuring our voices are heard as we advocate for our community’s needs.
Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans for the upcoming year. We’ll focus on enhancing networking opportunities, providing valuable resources for business development, and championing local initiatives that benefit everyone in Boonah. Our commitment to supporting sustainable growth and fostering a thriving business environment is unwavering.

Here are some of our key achievements this year:
We (Suz and I) have spent a lot of time this year rebuilding the Chambers social channels and have had incredible success. Eg: The best in town competitions we hosted had a combined video views of 12,000 and the 80th Birthday Celebration Video for Maynards had 1600 views in 1 hour and its currently sitting at 6.4 thousand views. This is our plan for 2025 - to increase video content for our Chamber members so they can reach these great numbers also.

We are currently sitting at 1300 Facebook followers , 16000 followers - thats a 28.3% increase.
The year we have had a 146.5%s increase with 80.4K organic views to our original content.

26 new members—a significant increase from last year.
Fundraising efforts totalling $6,000.

Our Boonah Tavern Christmas Dinner Meeting, with 35 guests and an inspiring speaker.

The Old Church BNB Breakfast Meeting attracted 30 attendees, catered by Wandering Foods, featuring presentations from Kelly Skewes and Bel Brown focused on shaping our workforce.

The Arthur Clives International Women’s Morning Tea had 60 guests and over 70 nominations, catered by Arthur Clives with Lisa Bass from Boonah Natural Health as our guest speaker.

Our Outlook Rustic Tent Sunset Dinner welcomed 30 guests, catered onsite by Sam Savoury, with Phil Gutzke from Teviot Park as the guest speaker.

During Small Business Week at Overflow Estate, we had 45 guests, with Andrew Wright as our inspirational guest speaker.

The Eat Local Month Clydesdales Bush dance Dinner saw 200 guests, catered by Signature Chef for Olive View Estate, featuring Celebrity Spanish chef Pepe Garcia.

A successful gathering at Vue Restaurant with 30 guests and Peter Maddock from QSCB speaking.

Finally, the Christmas Street Festival in December is expected to draw around 3,000 guests!

On behalf of Boonah Chamber Of Commerce I attended (alongside many other Council, Government entities and fellow regional Chambers) the incredible World Tourism Day evening celebration in Brisbane hosted by QTIC (Queensland Tourism Industry Council)

I gained valuable insight into Tourism in regional QLD and the vision that QTIC has for QLD.

It was great to hear from State Premier Steven Miles and Opposition Leader and Shadow Tourism Minister David Crisafulli MP, both supporting the value and importance of our fabulous tourism sector and its relevance to our economy, employment, international exposure and visitation

In closing, I want to emphasise the importance of collaboration. Together, we can achieve great things for Boonah. Let’s continue to support one another, share our knowledge, and work collectively to create a bright future for our community.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to an engaging and productive year ahead!
