💜 Polecon ‘24 (yeah, I know it was over a week ago)
What a great time! My favorite one that I’ve attended so far. There was so much! I did a certification with @verticaljoes, attended some great workshops and watched amazing performances (of course I’m biased to a few of my fav must sees @jenijanoisliquid and @ellimay6) and it was fun to be part of @jaxpole Creepy Showcase routine. I saw some of my favorite peeps, a lot people that I haven’t seen in a while and even made some new friends. Oh, and the shopping? I bought some goodies that I’m super excited about from @naughtygoddexx, @rarrdesigns, and the best ever leg warmers from @shop.rolling (I got my own, Jeni, no need to wear yours next time!) I even got a bit of additional fun in after-hours in the casino.
But I think one of the most important parts of the whole event was the launch of the Liquid Motion Movement Project. I had my entire Rebel crew take the pledge! (You can too!) It’s an honor to be part of some important change in the industry and I almost felt like a celebrity with my face up on their banner! I attended the discussion panel with @rozthediva and @jballpoles about plus size movement and dancers, which was great. Something that more people should have attended, for sure.
Overall takeaway from the whole weekend? Countdown is on for next year!

Some will disagree but the “basic” or beginner pole moves photograph better and I’m going to tell you why.
Because many of them are foundational moves and you had to master them before moving on to advanced variations, your body is most comfortable with them.
Which means your face card is on 100, you’re BREATHING, your body is relaxed, and you’re having fun. They also require little to no strength so you can drop one or two in your session as a nice breathing moment between tricks.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love tricks!!! But sometimes a pole sit or a lunge really does the trick!
If you never thought to add a “basic” move to your list of moves, consider doing so! I think you’ll be surprised! And if you like adding them to your lineup, sound off in the comments! I’d love to hear what’s your go to!
