When performing at @intlpoleconvention it’s helpful to hold your poses to get the best shot.
This is an exaggeration of that where @chiemi_chunga held her end pose long enough for me to move around and get a better angle.
Sometimes it’s just holding a pose a tiny bit longer that gives #photographers time to get the better angle.

I had such a good time with @snapzbytiemovez at my @intlpoleconvention photo shoot this year!
My body is doing hateful things to me as I age and I’ve been struggling with self confidence. The older I get the more I look like my mother, who constantly spoke poorly of herself but who I thought was beautiful. The brain does crazy things with that 😂. These photos give back to my self love. 💜 More to share, I just wanted to get this one out on its own.

Black Girls Pole Showcase- Polecon 2024
First of all shoutout to @accrobrandon for capturing this beautiful footage for me! 😭❤️ so grateful to receive such an intimate view of this performance.
Now for the vulnerable long version of it all: Building this routine this year was quite the self reflecting journey! Short version- Growing up in a community where I was one of three black girls, it was difficult as an adult to feel connected to that identity being I was never encouraged to embrace that side of me. Rewind to Polecon Last year, I was chosen to perform in the black girls pole showcase and I struggled with knowing what should be put on stage to represent that true black girl essence. I created a routine that wasn’t quite true to who I was as a creator/performer and more towards what I thought everyone would want to see in the BGP showcase.
Now this year I am grateful to say I got the do-ever I wanted. I created a routine that is 1000% me and I couldn’t be more happy with it, mistakes and all. Theme for this year was simplicity- no costume, no rhinestones, no shoes. So as I reflect now that it’s all done, my conclusion is black girls can do it all, and that is so beautiful. As long as I show up being authentically me, then I’m doing it right. Shout out to every performer in the @blackgirlspole showcase because we truly represented all the different facets of what it means to be a black girl. There is no ceiling! ❤️
