The Awakening: A National Prayer Conference “I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven. Acts 26:19

You never get over an encounter with Jesus.

Back in 1999, I had a very dramatic and personal encounter with the Lord at a prayer meeting in New York City, where I very clearly heard the Lord tell me to return to my dying church in Fort Worth, Texas, and lead the church to pray. I went home and sought to be obedient to the vision of making our church a House of Prayer and the Lord opened the flood gates of Heaven at Crossroads Tabernacle and

restored His Shekinah Glory in our midst. Over the next 10 years the Lord filled every seat of our sanctuary with some of the most impoverished people in our city, saving and delivering drug addicts, gang members, prostitutes, and a host of broken people from numerous cultures and ethnic backgrounds. In 2008, after attending the 100th Anniversary of the Church of the Nazarene at Pilot Point, the Lord burdened me to lead the people at Crossroads to a 30 day fast. After the fast, we felt God clearly direct us to begin having a Prayer Conference that we call The Awakening. The Awakening went from 87 attendees in 2009 to over 1,000 in 2016, with pastors and leaders coming from over 35 states! The Awakening: A National Prayer Conference is a three day prayer meeting marked by fresh outpourings of God's Holy Spirit and anointed teaching focused on equipping the local church to make prayer their foundation again. The simple focus of the Awakening is to pray and to learn about the power of corporate prayer, with the goal that pastors and leaders are given tools to lead their churches to pray. All of the speakers are selected for their emphasis on prayer and their focus on the in-breaking and stewarding of God's coming Kingdom. The Awakening conference is thoroughly Wesleyan-Holiness in its perspective and focus, seeking to retain the scripture, tradition, reason and experience to become a holiness movement again. We are also deeply committed to being focused not on a denomination or church affiliation, but rather to emphasize the need for desperation for the church to become one.
