I've lost my spark 😔. I drove ice cream trucks because it was fun. Not anymore. Last year I had my accounts hacked both personal and business they didn't get anything Thanks to the security programs I have, but I was forced to close and start new Bank accounts. And now After helping a fellow ice cream truck driver start their business, I feel betrayed that they targeted neighborhoods I work on a regular basis. I made the mistake of writing a bad review at 1am in the morning when I first saw the targeted post. Since then I offered to remove posts,but instead I have received threats to my life and business. And the last straw for me was when they started attacking Small Family Farmers that either I supported or they supported me. These farmers go through enough and I couldn't let them suffer more for something I did. So for those reasons after I finish my contractual agreements Jim's Ice Cream Truck of Michiana will no longer exist. Have fun Cruisin Cow, we didn't need to step on each other's toes.

Todays tidbit.
As an Ice Cream Truck Driver I have to always be aware of who's watching. This young man dressed up for Halloween like me a few years ago. So blessed to have great customers. As your Ice Cream Man, I have to wear many hats. Some of the other services I provide besides selling ice cream. I'm a natural deterrent for speeders, helping to slow traffic down in the neighborhoods. I'm also an aide to NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH, the Insurance Institute did a study that showed that home burglaries go down 4% in neighborhoods that have an ICE CREAM TRUCK. Comes to find out buglars don't like the attention we attract. Neighborhoods that have an ICE CREAM TRUCK that stop by everyday at a specific time period receive a Home owners insurance discount. So as you can see there are other things I bring besides SMILES 😁. When I'm in an area that the School bus is dropping off students, I also deploy my safety 🦺🛟 arm adding another safety tool,to help students safely get home.

Just some of the damage from the TORNADO 🌪️ in Twin Lakes. I went to the community last night and boy were they surprised when I told them NO CHARGE, JUST A SMILE 😁. I wish there was more that I could have done.

Customers and friends: I am no different than a store,one person or one group at a time.NO JUMPING THE LINE. If you do you will be paying for the people that have been ordering. WAIT YOUR TURN. Doesn't matter if you're an ADULT. You don't jump the line at McDonald's or Subway, so don't do it at the ICE CREAM TRUCK. Don't complicate something SIMPLE.

Todays tidbit:
Your neighborhood ice cream truck should NEVER charge you TAX. EVEN if it is a taxable item. They should instead have the price of the TAX built into the price. Now your Ice cream trucks that are stationary may, such as Kona Ice and Mr Softie. Neighborhood ICE CREAM TRUCKS understand that our LITTLEST CUSTOMERS can't calculate TAX. Some States and even some municipalities make it illegal for a neighborhood ICE CREAM TRUCK to change tax. I'm pleased to say that both Indiana and Michigan have a NO TAX rule on Prepackaged Novelty Ice Cream from your neighborhood Ice Cream TRUCKS. THE PRICE YOU SEE IS THE PRICE YOU PAY.

Todays tidbit.
Hershey's chocolate and Hershey's Ice Cream are two separate businesses both in Hershey Pennsylvania and Both were founded by a man Named Milton Hershey but they are 2 separate individuals. Hershey's chocolate sued Hershey's Ice Cream and now Hershey's Ice Cream has to put a disclaimer on their packaging that they are not Hershey's chocolate.

It’s a Good News / Bad News spring season here at our farm. We’ll start with the good news - the red raspberries, black raspberries, and blackberries look happy! Actually, they look like prickly sticks, but happy prickly sticks! We should have plenty of fresh berries this summer, as well as a few other additions we’ll announce soon.

Now, the bad news: Like most other peach growers in Berrien county this year, there will likely be no peaches at all. Peaches are a huge crop for us, so we extra appreciate your support this summer for all the other fresh produce that we grow on here on our family farm.

Ice Cream Men vs.
Hi**er.
The O.S.S. a precursor to today's C.I.A. deployed American Ice Cream Men to Europe . First and second generation immigrants that Still had their European accents, some Still had family living in the region Would be recruited. These gentlemen would set up their Gelato carts and German soldiers would often frequent these Ice Cream carts and while they stood around, they would have conversations with each other discussing sometimes troop movements or even some operations that were being planned. The Ice Cream Men hearing the conversations would then report to the Underground. These men were so effective in their jobs that when the German High Command found out, they would place Bounties on these men. Some of these bounties STILL EXIST TODAY. I often wondered about my first two ice cream truck jobs, Was My trainer one of those MEN ? Especially the first gentleman that I worked for in Portland Oregon. It's one of many reasons I try and do my best, to HONOR those fine gentlemen.

Legal.
As a neighborhood ICE CREAM TRUCK, My vehicle is classified as a SAFETY VEHICLE and there are some extra Laws I must follow. If I were to get a ticket, fines and penalties can be doubled. Most of the rules are Safety related. Like I must deploy my swing arm when serving customers, no serving customers out the drivers side door. ( This one helps for repeat business if My customers are not run over by cars.) But following these rules also gives me some exemptions like, I don't have to wear a seatbelt when I'm working. And I'm only considered working is when My music 🎵 🎶 is on. When I first started out over 40yrs ago I thought these rules and laws were silly. But today I understand and have experienced why they are rules and laws. Today I understand that ALL the rules and laws were just SAFETY STANDARDS and if I followed them none of my customers would be hurt. I am pleased to announce that in my over 40 yr career no children have been injured 🤕. Other than the occasional kid that gets so excited that runs faster than they can run and Falls down,or gets tripped up on a Gopher hole 🕳️. This accomplishment is one I am most proud of. I'm shocked. For the last several years from time to time I would have customers that said this is the first time they have seen an ICE CREAM TRUCK. I've even had a couple of kids say that they thought it was something that HOLLYWOOD made up. This has inspired me to inform and share information about ICE CREAM TRUCKS. So from time to time I will post information about the ICE CREAM TRUCK some of it will be fun stuff, some will be legal stuff and some will be historical. So the first piece of information is about myself. My first time driving an ICE CREAM TRUCK was 1983 I was living in Portland Oregon. I drove a CUSHMAN CART. It was a handmade project of my employer he even built the freezer, which we used DRY ICE to keep things frozen. I would then return to my Home Town of suburban Washington DC and drive again ICE CREAM TRUCKS. Here would be the first time I would go through an extensive background check ✔️ in order to work. Never know who might walk up to your truck from celebrities to politicians to Ambassadors. And then finally I would end up in South Bend Indiana and in 2002 I would start working for SUMMER SONG on and off until 2013 that I would start full time work as an ICE CREAM MAN and in 2016 I would finally purchase my truck as SUMMER SONG would end its neighborhood operations.
