The current owners purchased the former post office in November 2011. The historic building sat empty and neglected for several years, in need of major repairs and restoration. Significant water damage caused the hardwood floors in the sorting room to be beyond repair, and promoted several issues with the heating and plumbing systems. The primary goal of the new owners was to stop the damage and r
estore the inner systems in order to focus on other projects. Once the heating and plumbing systems had been repaired and upgraded, work on the walls and flooring began. Now the front lobby and sorting room are restored to their finest, and capable of making any event memorable. The current owners chose to live on site during the renovations. This gave them the capability to spend more time envisioning possibilities for the structure. We enjoy living downtown and feel as if Havre is a well-kept secret.”
Improvements are ongoing, even after the first event was hosted in September 2013. Shortly thereafter, the building officially opened for events in early 2014. In August of 2014, For You, By Me Events owned by Hayley Yost was hired to develop and maintain marketing tools. Yost will also be the Events Manager, ensuring no event is ever turned away. The first task accomplished on this new venture was to brand the building as an event space. The official name, Havre Historic Post Office, was revealed in September 2014. Yost will be working from Havre Historic Post Office, as well as from home in order to spend time with her two boys.
