If you haven't heard (the kūmara vine moves fast here 🤣) we have taken over the catering service at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa - Whirikōka, following in the footsteps of the legend Kev Murphy - Reka Cuisine ❤️Tihema was fortunate enough to work under Kev for five years so it's been a full circle moment.
We're only running catering for noho on weekends atm, so make sure to sign up for the courses to get the GEM kai haha.
This means we are on the lookout for a Sous Chef to help run the noho catering service. If you want a less stressful chef role that still has the freedom to be creative? Then this may be the role for you.
You'll ideally be an experienced Chef, with your Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. A Certificate in Professional Cookery, or a City and Guilds qualification.
And you'll be able to maintain a clean and organised kitchen in line with NZ food safety standards, assist with menu planning and run the kitchen when the Kitchen Manager is away.
We're a Māori business so whānau always comes first, manaakitanga is our jam, and knowledge of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga Māori is a plus.

Donut remove your mask to eat this 😷😉 • Farmers Market Update 👨🏽🌾👩🏻🌾 • Because we’re classed as “ready to eat” kai and with the new level 2.5 conditions we won’t be allowed to open up at the Farmers Market until level 1. • Removing ready to eat kai is a precaution so people don’t remove their masks to eat the kai inside the market, cos we all know who can resist not removing their mask to eat a donut breakfast burger! 😂🍔 • In the meantime we’re going to continue with our online sweet donut box deliveries so click on the link in our bio to order 💚 • We’ve got a few new flavours up our sleeves to release so stay tuned later in the week for these 🙏🏽 • Ngā mihi e te whānau, Team GEM
