So special to be able to cater for 200 kaumātua and kuia yesterday at Te Poho o Rāwiri, listening to their waiata and kōrero was beautiful 🥰

Kia ora e te whānau,

If you haven't heard (the kūmara vine moves fast here 🤣) we have taken over the catering service at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa - Whirikōka, following in the footsteps of the legend Kev Murphy - Reka Cuisine ❤️Tihema was fortunate enough to work under Kev for five years so it's been a full circle moment.

We're only running catering for noho on weekends atm, so make sure to sign up for the courses to get the GEM kai haha.

This means we are on the lookout for a Sous Chef to help run the noho catering service. If you want a less stressful chef role that still has the freedom to be creative? Then this may be the role for you.

You'll ideally be an experienced Chef, with your Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. A Certificate in Professional Cookery, or a City and Guilds qualification.

And you'll be able to maintain a clean and organised kitchen in line with NZ food safety standards, assist with menu planning and run the kitchen when the Kitchen Manager is away.

We're a Māori business so whānau always comes first, manaakitanga is our jam, and knowledge of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga Māori is a plus.

The saltiness of the slow cooked bacon hock, sweetness of kūmara & mixed with watercress in a crispy deep fried dumpling wrapper 😮‍💨

This canapé was created especially for the Harvest Charity Ball but it was so popular we’re going to keep it on the GEM catering menu 💚

It’s been a minute! And we’ve just realised that we haven’t introduced our Pēpi GEM to you all 💎

Ko Evie Mānea tōna ingoa 💛 and she is the absolute best thing since caramilk ultimate donuts were invented 🤣

She’s been keeping us busy as well as all the catering gigs, so we’ve been a bit quiet on the socials 🫠

But we do have some exciting updates for GEM that we’ll share in the coming weeks, for now ngā mihi aroha to you all for continuous support of our pakihi Māori ❤️🥹
