You may remember me, Sherry, from hosting Concerts on the Lawn here in Toluca Lake. I wanted to let you all that I'm in a wonderful Americana country rock band, Mustangs Of The West, if you don't know already. The band rarely plays LA, but will be coming to the Valley for the first time tomorrow night, Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7 PM to play the wonderful non-profit Tarzana Cultural Arts Center. It's outdoors, an intimate courtyard setting - and you don't even have to bring your own chair! The countdown begins! In two weeks, Mustangs Of The West will be playing our first official shows in the SoCal area in nearly a year! Our last "official" show was at The Roxy Theatre in 2023 for the record release of "Down At The Palomino", which ended up in the #1 spot for 18 weeks on the Roots Radio Report this year! These five special upcoming shows in September will likely be our ONLY Los Angeles area shows for the remainder of 2024, so hope you'll come out and join the party! Time is flyin' and want to share info about our upcoming Mustangs of the West shows in SoCal. It's been nearly a year since our The Roxy Theatre show where we introduced our "Down At The Palomino" album and the room was packed! Now, we've got a new single releasing this September to coincide with our upcoming shows. So, for you San Fernando Valley-ites, or anyone just over the hills through the canyons or driving in from the Burbank & Pasadena areas ... Here's where we'll be on Saturday night, Sept. 14 @ 7 PM ... Tarzana Community & Cultural Center! It's our only show in the actual metropolitan LA area. Otherwise, you'll have to catch us in Santa Ynez, San Pedro, Santa Monica - or follow us up to the Eastern Sierras for the fabulous Millpond Music Festival!

Chris Willman, Variety's chief music critic, has written a wonderful in depth review of The Manhattan Transfer's final show at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. He graciously included both current and archival photographs I've shot of the group, those by author James Gavin - and Chris' own video of the finale at Disney. Oh and check out the almost identical finger snappin' poses from the early 80's - and then the one I shot just last week at the show in San Diego! Remarkable!
