It's been awhile since I last posted and so much has changed for me. Almost 7 years ago I decided to stop using steroid creams to treat my eczema. I had no way of realizing at the time the tremendous and profound change that that decision would have on my life.

As I spent the years following in a debilitating condition known as Topical Steroid Withdrawal, many things in my life suffered, including my business. I wasn't able to work consistently and the business and brand that I was trying to cultivate, essentially fell by the wayside. It was a difficult and devastating time for me, not only because I was dealing with a challenging health issue, but also because I needed to let go of something that I had wanted to create with Trix & Trumpet. It was a dark time.

But, through all of that came a greater and deeper appreciation for things, for myself and for life. I found a new strength and determination that I might not have uncovered had I not been faced with this challenge. I was humbled, and I realized that I had to reconnect with all parts of myself, my mind, body and spirit, to heal fully and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to do so.

And I wrote a book. 🌟

Scratching the Surface chronicles my struggles with and my journey through topical steroid withdrawal. I aim to bring more light to this condition and hope to those who are suffering or caring for those who are. But I also wish that it can reach even further still as I navigate in the pages through mental health, feelings of worthiness and accepting my true value. It is a book that I hope can inspire anyone facing unexpected challenges and obstacles to persevere and stay strong.

Now I must put a definite pause on Trix & Trumpet as I follow the path that my writing may now take. I invite you to follow me on my other profile as start on this new chapter and see where it may lead. I may be back here again; events and parties are in my DNA, but the universe has called a different direction for now.

“tricks (trix) of the trade”: Special ingenious techniques used in a profession or craft, especially those that are little known by outsiders. “trumpet”: Proclaim widely and loudly.

Here at Trix & Trumpet we really like parties. All kinds of parties. Birthdays, Anniversaries, Weddings, Showers. Whatever the occasion, we get giddy and happy just thinking about it. But there is something we like even more than parties and that’s helping YOU create the party that you want.

Maybe it’s that second opinion, or real-world advice. Maybe you’re stumped on something or need direction. Or maybe you just don’t have time for everything (you are only one person!). We’ve done it all, and we’re here to help however you need us.
