is a figurative painter, who was born in Ukraine and now lives and works in Canada. Her work is centered around beauty, its invisible and visible components. Whenever she is working on a painting or a mural, she captures the intangible and the timeless. Thus, her artwork takes on a semi-abstract quality, creating a playful interplay between traditional and contemporary styles. 

The butterfly she painted represents a journey of discovery, transformation, rebirth, and evolution. Each container at Junction Public Market offers a unique opportunity to engage with a local artist, craftsman, or maker. These containers are like cocoons holding butterflies. Interacting with these creatives has the potential to spark an evolution of ideas and thoughts, it can be a transformative experience, — the birth of a butterfly.
More broadly, the butterfly symbolizes those moments in our lives when we stand on the brink of something new.

curates murals at Junction Public Market. Join us Friday August 30 through Monday September 2 as Amy (Yun Ru) Bao paints a mural live on one of our containers.

Amy (Yun Ru) Bao is a multidisciplinary artist based in Vancouver BC. Her background is in traditional art and architecture. She loves outdoor artworks that are free for all to enjoy. The accessibility and inclusivity of public art is very important to her. She also loves interactive artworks that invite people not just to view but also engage. Physical interaction and playfulness drive many of her designs. Amy transforms bare structural surfaces into engaging works of art with vibrant murals, and dreams of enlivening public spaces with approachable sculptures.

As part of this program, a previous mural was painted on August 17 & 18 by Olivia Di Liberto. Murals will be on display through the 2024 season.

curates murals at Junction Public Market. Join us on Saturday August 17 & Sunday August 18 as Olivia Di Liberto paints a mural live on one of our containers.

Olivia Di Liberto (aka Chillivia) is a Vancouver-based Mural Artist, Illustrator and Painter. Olivia’s work is inspired by youth iconography, mythic narrative, and the styles and objects of a range of subcultures—including tattooing, still life and romanticism. Her work uses graphic illustrative components, vibrant colours, and intricate line work to convey messages of optimism and to celebrate individuality.

From August 23 – 25 a second mural will be painted live by artist Amy (Yun Ru) Bao. Murals will remain on display through the 2024 season.

Meet Soumak Boutique, founded by Rasha and Elvira, two Middle Eastern women passionate about preserving and celebrating the region’s artisan traditions. Established in May 2021, their boutique showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Middle East while offering sustainable alternatives to beloved handmade items.

Rasha grew up in old Damascus, and Elvira has roots in both old Baku and Istanbul—cities renowned for their exquisite craftsmanship in arts like mosaics, textiles, pottery, and more. Despite being far from their heritage, their deep nostalgia led them to bring this cultural richness to Canada.
