RMC marked 12 years of cosplaying for me. The first year of was the first year I indulged in costuming outside of Halloween or theatre. I love getting to do what I love year round and at my own pace. This year my mood was a bit funky, but I'm so glad I got to hang out with friends I've made through this show and meet new people. I am so grateful to for grabbing some beautiful pictures since I didn't grab any this year. Loved hanging out with a dear friend, ,and a new friend, . They were gorgeous in their cosplays.

I have developed some gnarly allergies since I started cosplaying 12 years ago. I get blisters from most adhesives and some costume parts that everyone uses... Eyelash glue, surgical tape, b**b tape, wig caps. It hinders some of what I can do, but not all. When I can, I choose to opt out of wigs. This is why you'll find me with questionable accuracy when it comes to some characters I cosplay. This weekend, I'll be in a version of Raven. My beautiful friend, pointed out that my hair was super close to not need a wig. I loved that idea. I have a natural widows peak, and chose to just throw purple on my black/burgundy to lean into that more. It's a perfect option for those who can't wear wigs!

Do you cosplay or collect certain cosplay character prints from cosplayers? What draws you to your characters?

I gravitate toward strong willed and independent characters. Whether they are good or bad, their sense of self and the way they carry themselves has helped me. I no longer walk or stand with my arms crossed or in my pockets unless I'm cold or have a knife because I'm alone. I no longer walk with my eyes cast down. The characters help me walk through my own life with confidence. That's what cosplay does for me.

I love snowy days! Just got back from venturing out into the wild white yonder. Got some fabric for Tifa. I've been wanting to cosplay her for a while. I didn't completely ignore your suggestions for cosplays, but I have a limited amount of time to get things done. I'll be tabling at RMC this weekend and at Daku Con next weekend!

Super vulnerable post here. I am a designer, costumer, and sewist. I haven't drawn seriously since middle school. That was 30ish years ago. At that time, I was good at still life artwork in pencils. I have never spent any kind of time drawing people. I was working on a new design the other night, and got a wild hair up my ass to add details to the face. I realized I was enjoying it. I had forgotten how much I liked to draw. I needed some retail therapy and something to do on election day, so I went to Barnes and Noble and grabbed a sketch book and a "how to draw" book. Here's some of the nonsense I've drawn today. Obviously, I'm working on faces. Different types, different shapes, different races... The top ones are my latest. I'm proud of these. They're not perfect, but I can see growth. The eyes are less crazy. I'm also excited that the last two actually look like they could be the same person... maybe. 🤣

Got to debut this at the Vampire Ball Friday night! There's still things I want to fix, change, and add, but I am so proud of how it's all coming together. I'm going to put it off to the side for a bit to work on some designs I've had floating around in my head. I'm enjoying a spurt of creativity right now, and really want to take advantage of it.
