I love snowy days! Just got back from venturing out into the wild white yonder. Got some fabric for Tifa. I've been wanting to cosplay her for a while. I didn't completely ignore your suggestions for cosplays, but I have a limited amount of time to get things done. I'll be tabling at RMC this weekend and at Daku Con next weekend!

Super vulnerable post here. I am a designer, costumer, and sewist. I haven't drawn seriously since middle school. That was 30ish years ago. At that time, I was good at still life artwork in pencils. I have never spent any kind of time drawing people. I was working on a new design the other night, and got a wild hair up my ass to add details to the face. I realized I was enjoying it. I had forgotten how much I liked to draw. I needed some retail therapy and something to do on election day, so I went to Barnes and Noble and grabbed a sketch book and a "how to draw" book. Here's some of the nonsense I've drawn today. Obviously, I'm working on faces. Different types, different shapes, different races... The top ones are my latest. I'm proud of these. They're not perfect, but I can see growth. The eyes are less crazy. I'm also excited that the last two actually look like they could be the same person... maybe. 🤣

Got to debut this at the Vampire Ball Friday night! There's still things I want to fix, change, and add, but I am so proud of how it's all coming together. I'm going to put it off to the side for a bit to work on some designs I've had floating around in my head. I'm enjoying a spurt of creativity right now, and really want to take advantage of it. My heart is ecstatic because we finally got snow. Fall through mid spring are my absolute favorite times of the year, and snow holds an extra special place in my heart. I think it's all the fun memories I have from playing as a child... The ice slides, the tubing, the hot chocolate, the spiced apple cider, the fire pits/places, warm hugs, and warm blankets. It's the one time of year I don't worry about the body shaming and mockery of my clothing choices by people who should have been a safe haven year round. It's honestly the safest time in my self expression. I never actually thought of the why. I guess it was time for that revelation.

Here's to the turning of the seasons and warm hugs!

I've found the more comfortable I am with being myself, the less I need to keep my finger on the pulse of the drama.
Talking to a comic creator: I'm a cosplayer and love doing covers.
Comic creator: I don't work with cosplayers.
Me: Cool.
Comic creator starts sputtering to give a reason.
No need. Enough said. I don't need the "why." I'm sure you have a great reason. It's not my business. It doesn't hurt my feelings. People forget that "no" is a complete sentence and can be devoid of emotional attachment. It's not personal. Obviously there's a story, but I enjoy staying in my lane and working where I'm wanted from the beginning. Pushing yourself into a situation doesn't do anyone any good. There's always other projects.

Day after getting home from con is always the most difficult. I've been "on" for 3 days straight when I'm used to hanging out by myself in my workroom; I'm exhausted from long hours standing and traveling back and forth; and I now have to unpack everything and get started on stuff for the next event. This is where my self care really makes a huge difference.: sleeping in, enjoying the silence, and just telling my household to hold it together on their own for one more day so I don't become a slathering beast biting everyone's heads off is important.
