THE EARLY DAYS OF OUR SCENE.
As you can now lend your ears to both parts of the album from today, we thought its only right you see and hear the concept behind the intro to the albums spoken word by JP.
As I drove down a country lane in Kent, the idea hit me that this was the intro to the album Vital Elements (V2E) and myself needed, I knew what I wanted the poem / spoken word to cover, now, who do I know thats a great writer for this project, in steps Mr JP, like me he lived through and was part of this rebellious 1989 movement that changed the landscape of clubland in the UK forever.
I explained the concept behind Warehouse Days the album Kniteforce Records, from House to present day DnB. The time lines that needed covering, the battles with authorities, the experiences and topics we wanted him to write about in a few short paragraphs, what I woke up to the next morning was just outstanding work, after some back and forth with minor changes, the piece was complete.
Now we have the words completed, lets get the voice who also experienced the acid house/ rave revolution, I first thought my friend Bobby from Starlight Express, then I moved on to Idris Elba for that great tone and amazing craft he has going on, then the penny dropped once again.
I called JP. "You do it” I said, no one knows your voice and that really works for us, “You wrote it, You lived it. You say it” he agreed, the next day I turned up on JP’s door with recorder in hand and set about getting this master piece on file.
After a number of editing sessions over zoom with Vital Elements, we came to happy place with the sound bed and what track it suited going into, being Western Heights.
The rest they say is History.
Vital Elements and myself would like to thank JP World Dance for his outstanding contribution to Warehouse Days.
Specially dedicated to all the ravers, promoters and anyone that was a part of this 1989 movement that fought the powers that be to party all night through.
This Journey of mine never stop surprising me.
I left Dover in 1987 with not a lot going on in life. I was introduced to a little acid house club called Future in Jan 88 and Micky Finn was born.
Come into my old cell in Dover as we show you where the whole idea behind Track 1 "Western Heights" from the album
"Warehouse Days" OUT TODAY
on all digital platforms.
VINYL and USB 7PM tonight via Kniteforce Records
so go support an old ex crim😂.
Poor Vital Elements (V2E) could only imagine my translations of sound whilst working on the track until he came up this day to visit my old cell, makes me feel weird even thinking I was once there, I don't even recognise that kid any more.
Thanks to David de Min and Arron Crascallfor making it happen, its been the most amazing experience for me to reflect on where I was in life to where I went and still am.
"Western Heights is paying homage to my intro to the Acid House scene, as thats the beginning of my musical journey so it's only right it's the beginning of the album.
"Western Heights" where my old life ended and new life started.
Enjoy.
“Warehouse Days is, in many ways, a musical autobiography. It takes us on a journey through the sounds that defined the birth of rave culture, the music that filled the warehouses, and the iconic moments that made the scene what it is today. From the relentless breakbeats and basslines that drive the heart of Jungle & DnB to the soulful rhythms of House, Reggae and Funk that inspired the earliest rave pioneers, this album is a rich tapestry of genres, styles, and influences.”
"System Culture feat Colin McSpyda Griffith "
Release no.4 from the album Warehouse Days via Kniteforce Records
MC Spyda asking the question,
"What would life be like without the drums and the bassline?"
With his iconic vocal delivery, MC Spyda reflects on the central role that sound system culture has played in shaping his life, from his early days in the scene to his evolution as a key figure in the jungle and DnB scene.
The production, crafted by and Vital Elements (V2E) and myself Micky Finn , captures the essence of that gritty, powerful sound system vibe, with heavy basslines, dub-infused atmospheres, and infectious breakbeats that elevate the energy of Spyda’s reflective lyrics.
Micky Finn and Vital Elements continue to bring their vision of rave music to life with Warehouse Days.
And this is the evening news.
Release No.3.
Hallucination .
Out tomorrow. 16.01.25
On all digital platforms
And heres our reporter on the scene.
"Hallucination" delivers exactly what its title promises—an intense sonic experience that transports listeners into a realm of heavy basslines, rolling breakbeats, and twisted atmospheres.
As part of the Warehouse Days album, the track is another key piece in our expansive exploration of rave music, showcasing their ability to adapt and evolve while staying true to the genre’s core elements.
Enjoy.
And back to you in the studio.
Funky Thursday.
First call is to thank you all so much in supporting the 1st single Back In The Day, We very much appreciate you.
Second Release and last call.
Funkadelic is out today 09.01.25 on all digital platforms.
"Funkadelic" is a testament to the cross-pollination of genres that defined the UK rave scene in the early '90s. With its funky rhythms, sampled loops, and nods to the golden age of hip hop, the track is a celebration of the genre’s roots, while seamlessly integrating the energy and spirit of jungle and DnB. It’s a track that speaks to both the head-nodding hip hop aficionados and the relentless ravers who’ve kept the jungle scene alive for decades.
