Hidden armor seems to be a favorite amongst requests. I'm looking at options for Tatami dous. Will Edo era designs be an acceptable starting point? I've been looking for other eras, but have come up short on examples. I'm favoring a design similar to this image as it seems to be more in line with protection standards of the combat games I play.
