Crucible Sound is a series of concerts and workshops in Pittsburgh PA focusing on the practice of free improvisation. Each month, musicians from different backgrounds and styles collaborate to create live improvised soundworks. Crucible Sound exists to promote openness, freedom, actively listening to each other, reflecting on our commonalities and differences, connecting deeply, and creating thing

s together which are unexpectedly beautiful. It's made up of the collective creativity and good faith of all its participants, musicians and listeners alike. Crucible Sound stands against bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, and violence, now and forever. The series is organized by multi-instrumentalist and improviser Anthony Levin-Decanini.
