THIS Saturday!
Come out and see us in the Harris Christmas parade!
Parade starts at 5pm and we will be dressed up for the occasion 🎄🤍❤️
Blanket off and breakfast in her belly… = time for a good scratchy roll! 🤗
Spent some time sitting on her back just being present. Always good for the soul 🤍
Guess what day it was today? 💅🏼
What makes you a good rider? Being able to ride more than one horse and being able to ride many different kinds of horses.
A friend asked me to go to a Team Penning event and to ride her cow horse. For me and for her. She’s out with a bad back but the horse still needs to be ridden and I need and want the experience.
I won’t lie.. I had some guilt not riding my own horse but I also have only ever ridden Sugar other than a few horses I took lessons on 7 years ago. So.. I said yes! I want to be a good rider AND leader for my horse and any other horse I ride in the future.
I’ve taken a few “lessons” on my good friend Terri’s horse, Hank, and immediately knew and felt a difference in riding him. He was bred to be a cow horse and knows his job. At first he tested me.. he knew I wasn’t confident and he didn’t test me in a bad way but in a way I had to learn to show him I was the leader. After the second time riding him.. something clicked for us and I think he respected me and didn’t feel the need to check in on me. Win!
Last night we went and rode at a clinic with Buffalo and I was nervous.. nervous that he knew more than me and that I would fail us both. Terri reminded me I was there to have fun, learn something, sit my seat, and get out of my head and stop thinking so much! 😅 I did that and I had fun!
The takeaway from all of this is we have to get out of our comfort zone now and then and learn new things. I was definitely in a comfort zone with Sugar and my riding capabilities but I wanted more. Since a few lessons, I’ve taken what I’ve been learning and am applying it to my riding with Sugar. I think she initially thought “what the heck mom, you’re in charge?” But it’s helping us both and I believe she will be just fine with that and even happier riding 🤍
Here’s a video from the clinic last night. It may not look like much but it’s a lot to take in, think about and remember everything. It was also fun!
Fancy Girl 🥰🤍
Having some fun and Theo and Toby love when she’s feeling sassy too!
Last nights short ride through the woods was great! No mosquitoes to carry us away and no deer flies attacking us! We love the cool fall weather 🧡💛🤎
This last one here was fun and made for a good laugh… those that know ribbon race know it’s supposed to be a fast event as well😂 we just didn’t want to break the paper ribbon! And we succeeded ..
Speed Dash… by far a favorite and one that’s easy for both of us 😆
She came in less than second behind our good friend and fast horse so this alone makes me proud!
