A lovely 8.5 mile ride tonight after work!

The weather was perfect and the company was even better!

We got a few sprinkles on us but nothing too crazy. She rode so good tonight! I bet she enjoyed the weather and stretching her legs out after a hot weekend standing in front a fan.

A small educational post: when you add humidity and the temperature together, that number gives you a baseline of “is it too hot to ride my horse”

This information is put out by the U of M and is what we use as a guideline. Having rode extensively on Thursday and being in the saddle and sun on Friday, I’m giving her the weekend off from riding.

As much as I love riding, I love her more and it’s just not worth the possible injury or discomfort.

So today (as she did yesterday) she will stand in the shade of her lean to in front of her fan and just relax. She may even get a cold hose down later today.

Note: hosing down horses in the heat and sun can also be dangerous but she has shade and fan so she won’t be out in the sun afterwards.

She had a busy, full day yesterday!

We got in an 8 mile ride with Dolly then rushed home to jump in our friends trailer and headed to the Isanti Co Parade to make our first appearance with the new Isanti Co Mounted Patrol! 🤍

This parade was HUGE! It was by far the biggest parade we’ve ever been in and all of the horses did a great job! The crowd seemed to move in on us at times but they all did amazing 🤩

A few of the husbands, mine included, even got in on the fun and dressed as inmates and scooped p**p behind us! 💩

Next adventure: parking cars tonight at the Isanti Co Rodeo 🐎

Yes, you can hire us to come to you and you can use your own photographer. These sweet girls have a lovely grandma who booked us to come to her place.

I’ll share some professional photos in a few weeks when they are done but grandma sent me a couple she took on her phone to say “thank you, Sugar!” 🤍

What an amazing week spent in the Black Hills with my best friend and our ponies.

A busy spring prevented us from conditioning the girls like we had planned but they shined on the trails and we couldn’t be more proud of them.

There are so MANY trails to ride right out of camp. We only rode 32 miles in 4 of the days we were there but those were some very challenging miles.

The girls were pampered with massages and body work for working so hard.

Perfect weather and wonderful people made for a memorable trip!

I’ll post a reel of some of our videos on the trails since facebook won’t let me post videos and pictures in the same post.
