The Kate Dress
MY Kate dress was designed in 2002 and it was strongly selling in retail stores for the next 5 years. Later in 2008 I began spending time with who led the building of .ca. I was invited to a number of meetings and this photo was given to me. It was the official launch of the initial renderings of the , by . Upon seeing it for the first time, I marveled at how closely it looked like my Kate Dress. I can't imagine Antoine Predock following my work, but I found it fascinating. If things would have worked out differently, my next creative pursuit would have been to create a classical music video with dancers in my dresses moving through the museum. The choreography is in my head and every step has been haunting me for years.

Never underestimate the beauty of a veil.
One of the most joyful part of my wedding dress design career has been designing veils. There is a complexity to it. There are many different types of tulles and different widths of combs, and every embellishment is chosen with the upmost consideration to the added weight on the whisper delicate tulle. People outside of the industry never realized how large my veil category was. Many people tried to copy my veils, but they always failed. Perhaps they lack the patience to hand drape and hand cut a simple little veil.

ENCHANTE DRESS
One of my most favorite dresses, The Enchante Dress and one of my favorite photoshoots with one of my favorite photographers .morneau. This photo was taken during covid, and at the time it was challenging to find models that reflected the collection I was presenting. The Anna Dress
Building and discovering the nuances of an exquisite silk peau de soie. This dress can only be made by hand draping on a dress form.
As we produced many of these dresses in our atelier, each skirt had to be hand draped by our artisans.

THE ANNA DRESS
The Anna Dress known for its deeply drop waist and delicately draped silk peau de soie skirt. The silk peau de soie was created for me by an Indian mill that is no longer in business. I tirelessly collected swatches of silk and tested every one by making sample dresses to make sure that the fabric was going to be compatible. In most cases designers design small versions of their gowns on 3/4 sized dress forms. (They actually look like little dolls). They do this in order to save fabric and get the pattern right so the pattern could be adapted to a full size body shape. - - - I don't do this. I could never get a good enough "read" of the fabric when I tried. At the very most, I design through dozens of muslins per each dress. Each muslin inching its way closer to the end result of the gown. However sometimes muslins don't work, and the Very Ultimate Best result is draping with the original fabric - and in my case, that means draping in SILK, which is INSANELY EXPENSIVE. It is expensive but saves time patternmaking and making multiple muslins.

I used a pointe shoe pink silk embroidery thread. and top stitched to emphasize a classic corset shape. I sourced the best under batting that did not contribute to excess bulk and the quilting made it a fun dress for my factory to make.
