Happy New Year Jazz UpFront Family, Friends, Fans, and Followers!
Here is this month’s lineup! This weekend we’ve got the incomparable Gary Muhammad and 4 on the Flow bringing their grooviest, smooth jazz and award winning Memphis Blues Artist Brandon Santini lighting up the stage! Grab those early bird tix right meow!
Next week, back by popular demand, Mattie Mae and the Music Makers Friday, and then Saturday, save some room for TaQsem and The Candy Jams!
Week 3 we are honored to be partnering with Prairie Pride Coalition to host the Opening Reception for the Stonewall Library Archive Exhibition, “The Harlem Renaissance: As Gay as it was Black,” as it begins its upcoming tour around Bloomington-Normal for Black History Month. That weekend brings back crowd favorite DJ Love with R&B Night and another back-by-popular-demand, Erech Bruce Band!
Week 4 brings us the always popular Front Street Collective, the band created on our very own UpFront Stage during Open Stage nights, and IWU Jazz Director Reginald Lewis’ Two-Tenor Quintet, with the Colby Powers Quintet opening!
Holy cow and there’s a week 5- January, why are you so long? Oh right! To fit in all the fabulous funkiness that is SmoothTimes!
We’ve got Open Stage every Wednesday but today- we are closed today for some rest from last night’s festivities, and a couple of great Rhythm and Booze nights hosted by Shayla and some great DJs.
And just wait, February is going to hold some new surprises and bands this stage has never seen before. Stay tuned for more exciting show announcements.
