Woe to those that experience this reality… It’s not just “getting to play with flowers all day.”
Floral designers are some of the most over-worked and undervalued people in our communities. The amount of required: education, physical labor, planning, organization, and adaptability would put most people in a psych ward.
The stress and anxiety of keeping flowers ALIVE, pleasing the client/coordinator, making sure to check everything off your list, making sure you have the right: timeline, floor plan, item count, load-in instructions, inclement weather plans, a reliable first-aid kit, tool kit, contingency plans A-Z… and to have everything done by the time the cake arrives, the photographer shows up, the family arrives, etc. would be debilitating for most people. (Might even send someone into cardiac arrest.)
All of this to say, I hope you’re okay Floral Designers, but remember you’re the reason why most events are what they are. Without your creativity, artistry, and ingenuity, the atmosphere would fall short to capture the uniqueness of the moment.
We may be tortured (as gluttons for punishment) but we love what we do. Like a poet publishing their works, the florist sees their floral ideations through—into reality. And, often times, that spark is all it takes to keep one persevering.
TLDR: Just try and come for my job. 💐💀🖤

It’s Mental Health Awareness Month. 💚 The green ribbon is the symbol for mental health awareness.
Each one of us has a role to play in changing the narrative and ending the stigmatization of mental health issues. We can start by showing compassion so everyone feels free to ask for help and learning the warning signs of emotional distress and su***de.
If you are facing a crisis, dial 988 to reach the National Su***de and Crisis Lifeline. Anyone can call, text, or chat to be connected to a trained crisis counselor.
If you are a new or expecting mother, you can call 1‑833‑TLC-MAMA for confidential advice on mental health from a professional.

It’s a symbol of joy and admiration for transgender and nonbinary people in our lives… A symbol of thanks, and a reminder of their need for our continued support.
This pink rose is a symbol of hope for the community and a display of the resilience within each of you as we continue to fight the discrimination and hate.

Just as the butterfly, I have grown and moved (literally) on from my past self. My wings are new and I am met with little resistance as I soar into a future I believe in.

My hope in sharing this visual depiction of my mental illness is to demonstrate that you are not alone. 🧠
You see, a brain is like a garden. Everyone’s is different. Some have nearly all the right resources to grow while others may have been through a natural disaster in their lifetime like: a drought of neglect, a flood of environmental trauma, or even left with a lack of essential growth supports, like a trellis, to accommodate them. Some people’s gardens may require stimulant fertilizers while others may need rehabilitative care from a gardener. The important take away from this is that there are numerous people and resources available to ensure your garden grows.
Don’t let your environment get the best of you. Tend to your mental health like you would a garden, and find ways to make it fruitful for you! 👨🏻🌾

These WHITE & GREEN weddings never get old! I’m ecstatic about how well this traditional, round hand-tied bouquet turned out. 🤩 I can’t understand why anyone would want a pop of color alternative when WHITE & GREEN has such a great personality and uniqueness to it!

A 6-year-old black boy was arrested and had to appear in court after he was accused of picking a tulip from a yard as he waited at a bus stop in North Carolina. A CHILD of innocent mind was sued for ‘damage to real property’ and sat in juvenile court with a coloring book to keep still for his lawyer. The case was dismissed by the judge, but the damage to that child has already been done.
I could have easily been in that boy’s shoes at his age— picking a pretty flower to give to my mom and just as clueless of any possible repercussions. To think that there are instances where children are ARRESTED by police for non-threatening acts is disgusting. But apparently police are more than happy to facilitate the criminalization of children, especially those of color...
Between 2015 and 2018, nearly 7,300 complaints in North Carolina were filed against children between the ages of 6 and 11. And of those complaints, 47 percent were against black children, despite the fact that just 22 percent of the state’s population is black, while 70 percent is white.
Put simply, the criminal justice system in this country needs to change. If this story resonated with you as it did me, I encourage you to speak up about it and continue to advocate for police reform. The children can’t do it alone and they need your help to make lasting change. 🌷🌷🌷✊🏿

I was exhausted from trying to be stronger than I felt. Like the ice of winter, I was cloaked in weight of everything. I was forced into a sabbatical, away from my art, as I trudged through unpredictable circumstances.
Things have changed with the coming of spring, and I too have felt some of the warmth and resolve. The time has come to to join you again and share in the love of flowers.
I thank you for sticking around and waiting patiently for my return. It means the world to have you supporting me and my art. And, I can’t wait to share more with you! ❤️
