Haven’t been pushing my business much because I was taking a break for a bit. Mental health is no joke and I needed some time to get my head back on straight. Finally found meds that work so that means I’m back to work and will be posting more. I’ve got availability as early as this weekend. I’ll also be putting together a Father’s Day menu and taking custom orders for Father’s Day.

The influx of support in my messages is heartwarming. Over the 13 years I’ve been doing this I’ve done well over 1,000 cakes. Majority customers are happy with. Sometimes I miss the mark and unfortunately that comes with the territory of being human. I forget things occasionally and experience miscommunications. Does this happen frequently? No but sometimes it does.
I am a one woman show so if something goes wrong it’s 100% my fault. Out of all the cakes I’ve done there’s 30that really stick out to me as dang I really dropped the ball. 30 out of over 1000. Guess what? Those 30 cakes literally still haunt me. I take pride in my work and I have a passion for what I do. It’s not easy for me to take the loss in these instances.
Things I don’t take is being bullied into giving a refund and being threatened when I don’t agree. I won’t stand for that period. I try to be accommodating especially when it’s my fault. There have been 3 instances where this has happened and I end up all over the town chatters. People must think “Man, this person but be terrible or do terrible work.” When they see these posts. But in all honestly everyone gets it. Every single cake decorator or bakery owner has experienced this at one point or another. The difference? I stand up for myself.
So if you have made it this far and you have followed me for awhile you know where this is going. When negativity affects my life and I goof up I give back. Over the years I’ve done free cakes for dozens of kids and not one single complaint. 😜 so if you have a deserving kid who sticks up for themselves comment their name here. I’ll pick someone tomorrow at noon and ill give them a dream cake up to 200.00 (cake pictured is one I refused to refund years ago)

Inventory clean out starting Wednesday for pittsboro/brownsburg. As early as today for Rensselaer. I have a bunch of stuff I need to sell before Sunday 😅 chocolate peeps 3.00 a pack, chocolate covered peeps on a stick 3.00. Oreos 9.00 for a 3 pack or 18 for a box of 6, paint your own chocolate eggs 20.00, strawberries 25 a dozen (preorder by tomorrow for delivery this weekend) Easter cookies I’ll have done today and posted by this evening. I’ll have several dozen of those as well.

Small business Saturday! The one day to highlight those small businesses who risk it all to play the game of life. I’ve been very fortunate enough to have spent most of my working time as a business owner. Where there are positives there are also negatives. I remember starting out I would have a 4k day then not do anything for the next week. It’s not a steady income and there are many struggles. There have been birthdays where I could only afford to get the kids balloons. I’m not even joking.
I’ve put everything I’ve had into my business from day 1. Plenty of times I tried giving up. It’s too hard. When you have a passion for something you can’t just throw it out. I always came back swinging. I’ve missed holidays, I’ve exhausted myself to the point of falling asleep sitting up at family functions, and my kids have felt those struggles as well. The positives far outweigh the negatives and that’s what keeps me going.
