Who’s ready to start making snacks that aren’t full of crap?
If you’re joining the Sunday cook up, I’ll be sharing the Chocolate Peanut Butter Shortbread Slice recipe. It’s really versatile - You can use any nut butter that you like, or leave it out entirely. I’ll be using coconut oil instead of butter for a second batch.

Haven’t been in the kitchen much the last few weeks, due to lots going on in the Heskett household. However yesterday my rug arrived and i absolutely love it! The top layer peels off to allow you to throw it into the washing machine, which is perfect for someone like me, who resembles the Swedish chef on the kitchen 😂. I’m suddenly feeling motivated again to whip up something delicious in the space. It feels so cozy in there!

After all that cake testing yesterday, my body is letting me know that today is mostly about the savoury. And what a beautiful way to start the day! 5 ingredients - beef, eggs, avocado, blueberries and salt. That’s it. Ready in under 10 mins and will keep me going for hours. I don’t really snack, and it’s meals like this that easily sustain me easily.

I literally have no clue what I’m doing, so much so, that I converted my personal page into my business page because I couldn’t work out how to make a new account, so it’s gonna at least be good for a laugh 😂😂😂

With the cost of food sky rocketing, one of the best ways I have found to save money on my weekly shop is to meal plan around weekly specials. This week I was able to get a pork shoulder for a discounted price. No other meat was on sale or within our budget, so when that is the case, beef mince is our other protein staple. These will be worked into five of the seven meals this week! And before you ask, yes our meals are very protein focused, primarily added from animal sources. However with the price of veggies at the moment, I still think shopping around specials for vegetarian and vegan families is so important for your budget.

I have a few food intolerances, so I always start planning each meal around the protein we can all eat. I usually prep these meats on a Sunday to cut down cooking time during the week. No meal takes more than 45 minutes to prepare during the week, and most take less than 30.

Here’s what we are eating for this week. It might change if life changes, but we usually loosely follow the plan if the meat is already prepped. It also means that when it’s other people’s turn to cook
They don’t need as much guidance from me.

Hello my beautiful friends! I am so sorry that I have missing in action for a little while. Thanks so much to everyone who messaged and texted to make sure we were ok. We definitely are. However there has been some changes at home, with the kids crazy schedules and Dan starting a new job. There’s also a few other smaller things in the background that I won’t go into, but for this reason we we will be extending the pause on ready meals for a while longer.

However I do miss chatting to you all and I really do miss the lovely community that we have here so I would love to still be around, passing on handy hints and complaining about crap ingredients 😂

So I thought that seeing as budgets are getting tighter, and life is getting crazier I would share ideas to get you through the tough times. Things like budget recipes, what’s in season ect, and even some free online cook-along classes! All of my Bamalama Cooks OG’s will remember that this was similar to what the page looked like before we became a full catering company .
