Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love—but did you know that fresh flowers are out of season for us as a British flower farm right now? That’s where dried flowers come in.

Also known as everlasting flowers, they’re the perfect way to represent everlasting love—beautiful, unique, and made to last for years to come. A thoughtful, sustainable alternative that keeps the sentiment alive long after Valentine’s Day has passed.

I’ve been quietly adding some of our beautiful handmade dried flower wreaths to the shop on our website, and they’re now available to be posted—not just at our markets!

I know the next big floral celebration is Valentines day but for me February is far to early for fresh flowers. So I've been planning ahead to Mothers Day instead. Which this year is late enough that we will have the first of our fresh flowers coming in the field. So here are the details for my first workshop of the year!
Tickets are now live on our website and spaces are limited to 10 to keep it intimate.

Blooms for Mum Workshop
This Mother’s Day, take some time to slow down and get creative. Whether you fancy making something beautiful with Mum, putting together a thoughtful gift, or just treating yourself, this workshop is all about enjoying the process.

You’ll pick your own flowers straight from the field and arrange them in a gorgeous upcycled floral jar—every creation will be totally unique! And because no workshop is complete without a little treat, there’ll be tea, coffee, and homemade cake too.

Want to make your jar extra special? I’ll show you how to wrap it up with tissue paper and ribbon for that perfect finishing touch.

I'm so excited to announce our first market of the year!
It's a new one for me and I'm so pleased to be a part of the Indie Collective and get to know all the other lovely makers that will be there as well.
I'll have a selection of my dried flowers creations with me which are a perfect long term alternative for Valentines or Mothers Day if your feeling organised!

It’s always such an honor to work with families to create something as unique and beautiful as the loved one they’re saying goodbye to. I have plants in my own garden that remind me of loved ones whenever they bloom, bringing a smile to my face and happy memories to mind.

Being able to incorporate live plants like forget-me-nots or miniature spring bulbs into tributes is so special. Knowing these can be planted in family gardens brings me so much joy. I hope that every time they bloom, they’ll bring a smile and a reminder of their loved one.

This is why I love flowers: the joy, the love, and the incredible sense of connection they bring. Through this job, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many amazing people—fellow growers, talented photographers, and, of course, my wonderful brides.

Every flower I grow and every arrangement I create comes straight from the heart, so seeing photos like these, beautifully captured by the talented , means the world to me.

One of January and February's jobs is to harvest our willow and make it up into the various shapes I will be using throughout the year. I like to use it green rather than drying it and soaking it so I do a few everyday. Cutting and making, then hanging the finished shapes to store until I need them. Most of the big rings won't be used until Christmas wreath workshops. It's always such a satisfying job stashing away a harvest like drying flowers or making jam.
Sadly a lot of our willow has been badly damaged by a grub and beetle over the last couple of years so I'm really missing a lot of the beautiful colours I normally get to make with. Keeping my fingers crossed that they will recover but I've definitely completely lost some varieties.

Just because fresh flowers are out of season doesn’t mean you can’t have a vibrant, colorful funeral tribute. This sweet little wreath was created in December as a graveside wreath, with a base of winter foliage and dried flowers added for that pop of colour.

I've finally managed to find some time to pull my finger out and get some of my dried wreaths up on the new website! At every market I take them to I always get asked if they can be purchased online and I've never had the time or honestly felt confident enough to get them up online. Well now I have and they are available to post. So even if you aren't local and can't make it to one of my markets you can now get your hands on one of these unique one of pieces. I couldn't make two the same even if I tried!

It's Friday and it's gloomy but thankfully I'm still dreaming up what the rest of our flower season is going to look like. It take s lot more planning and Tetris than you might think to keep our fields full of flowers from the end of March right up until the end of September. The giant whiteboard has been a god send as it allows me to tweak my plan until (I hope) it's perfect!

I've been having a bit of a tough week motivation wise. I always struggle with Januarys dark cold chilly days. So getting photos like this in my inbox is such a pick me up! This was one of our most colourful weddings from 2024 and had all my favourite things from DIY buckets to floral dog collars (more of these please!). Looking forward to this summer abundance again, it will come again, thats what I think is keeping me going right now.
Just a heads up if you are looking to book wedding flowers with me for 2025 I'm not taking any more bookings now in June or July.
Absolutely stunning photos captured by the very talented
I will be forever grateful to all of the amazing professional photographers out there who capture our blooms and are so willing to share their work with us.

Did you know that if you belong to a group like WI, floristry or a gardening group then we offer tour and tea? We ask for a minimum for 10 people so if you aren't part of any group but have ten gardening, flower mad friends who might want to come along then let me know! I love talking about what we do here on the farm and one of my favourite things to do is give you a sneak peak behind the scenes of how our blooms go from seed to your homes. If you would like to go behind the scenes and get to know how it's all done then drop me a message or email.

A really gorgeous delicate spring funeral wreath from last year as a small tribute for a gentleman. The base is made of willow covered in moss so is fully compostable. Willow is such an amazing material and I make the heart wreath bases from it as well. I know that having words like Mum and Dad is popular for funerals so I've been pondering how to create a willow base for these shapes. When I've got some willow harvested I'll have a play, fingers crossed it's possible!

January so far has been a lot of the same and it's not the most exciting. A lot of my raised beds were initially built from reclaimed timber ( the joists out of my parents house when they gutted it) so are sadly starting to rot now after four years of service. So it's time to rebuild! With the amazing help of my mum and dad we have been going through the field rebuilding all of the worst affected beds. We have also been putting in a new more solid support system as the previous one made it narrow working between the beds and a lot of them were falling over as well. Being windy where we are the flowers need all the support they can get!

The first flowers of 2025 that I will be starting are always a firm spring favourite
Ranunculus
These blousy roses of spring start life as a ugly brown corm that need soaking to bring them back to life. I've already got my first batch in the ground in the polytunnel for early blooms. I know a lot of other flower farmers who also do a later sowing which I've never tried before. So this will be a bit of an experiment for me this year. These will go into beds outside once they have sprouted in the heated propagators.
It's always lovely to look through such vibrant colourful photos to remind myself whats coming when it's freezing cold and muddy outside.

New year New Website!
It felt like time for a major update and to bring more colour and personality to Blue Hill Flora.
Our beautiful new website is now live and the perfect place to head if you got engaged over the holiday season. It's been fully update with gorgeous galleries from some of our weddings last year along with some lovely new reviews. I've even managed to start writing some blogs to answer my most frequently asked questions like How many DIY buckets might I need if I wanted to create my wedding flowers myself.
Have a nose around, I would love to know what you think!

I do always try to slow down at this time of year but I don't always succeed.
Running a farm means there are always jobs to be done. I've been doing a lot of maintenance to my raised beds and flower supports with a lot of help from my amazing parents. Hopefully getting these jobs done now means we will have a smoother busy season ahead.
One of the ways I've managed to find to help me slow down is getting out in nature with my DSLR camera. I love flowers and macro photography. Seeing the incredible detail that nature has put into each seed pod and piece of frost. Looking through the lens, looking at the light, shadow and shapes really helps me to take some time to look at whats around me and appreciate it.
How do you slow down? Any tips and tricks I might be able to try?

Hello! I know I’ve not been around on here much lately but I’m back. I have to admit it’s been lovely to have had a break from social media. But I have lots of exciting plans brewing that I can’t wait to start telling you about.

First off though I should probably reintroduce myself as it’s been quite a while!

I’m Rhiannon and I run Blue Hill Flora growing beautiful seasonal blooms which I then get to share with you.

I got married last year to my wonderful now husband Aled.

We have a two year old black cocker spaniel we rescued when he was 8 months old. He is completely spoilt and my little shadow around the farm.

I’m a self taught florist and grower and could talk about plants and flowers forever.

I have a slight house plant addiction much to Aleds despair.

I used to work self employed in the TV and Film industry as a Scenic Artist before starting Blue Hill Flora.

I love working with our home grown flowers to create wedding and funeral work and I also love passing on my skills in workshops (big workshop plans incoming!)

One of my main goals for 2025 is to show up here more. To put on less pressure to show up perfect and to just show up as myself. I always enjoy seeing other small businesses do this so I hope you will to.

Our Story

Hi I'm Rhiannon and welcome to Blue Hill Flora

When you buy flowers from us its so much bigger than just the flowers.

Blue Hill Flora was born from a love of growing, working with mother nature and nurturing wildlife. I wanted to create a business which would be doing all it could to give back to the earth rather than taking her for granted. It is such a privilege to work with mother nature and I try to be gentle on her in every way I can while growing gorgeous cut flowers for my customers.

For as long as I can remember I’ve had my hands in the soil. Growing has been a big part of my life and has developed into a true passion. I’ve always had a small patch of garden I was given free rein in and, to my family’s amusement, was always proudly fetching vases of whatever was flowering into the house. Bringing Blue Hill Flora to life is truly fulfilling a dream and I can’t thank you enough for showing your support for locally grown flowers and helping to keep this dream alive.
