My PC Story

Hi! I’m Ally! I started my Pampered Chef adventure October of 2017, and haven’t looked back, since. How did it all start, though? Starting all the way back in 2015, I started having trouble eating. I don’t mean allergies, or food intolerance.. I mean I actually couldn’t swallow very well. I kept choking, and it was the strangest thing! At first, it was just now and then.. I wrote it off as just eating too quickly, perhaps, or “it went down the wrong tube”. It got worse, though. Progressively worse. My P*P at the time chalked it up to GERD (acid reflux) and dismissed my concerns.. so things began to deteriorate. This photo is me, last year. Can you believe in 2011 I actually weighed 200 pounts and was a size 16? I had whittled down to practically nothing by then, able to consume liquids and little else. In fact, I often could choke on my own saliva!! Acid Reflux? No way! I ended up going to a Ready Med walk-in clinic, sick of BEING sick, and not getting anywhere with my doctor. Turns out, they actually listen to you, there! I got diagnosed correctly, after lots of testing with a rare disease called Achalasia. Apparently, my esophagus just did not want to cooperate, anymore! This rare swallowing disorder is not well-known, but essentially, the gate between my esophagus and stomach stopped opening when I swallowed, meaning the food wasn’t reaching its intended destination! The tests to confirm this were expensive, as was the corrective surgery I had in February of 2019.

To afford the tests to even get my diagnosis required more money than I had. I worked a full-time retail job that barely covered rent and gas, much less anything else, even WITH insurance! I needed extra income, fast.. and I had been invited to a Pampered Chef virtual party, right on Facebook. I decided to look and see what I could possibly afford to help out my friend.. but I had a budget that was tiiiiny. I was really surprised at how many items Pampered Chef offered for under $10, though, so I found something easily. My interactions with the consultant were positive, too, and when the idea of joining her team came up, I had no reason not to try! I hosted a party, first, earned kit credit to put towards my kit, making it $45 instead of $99, and I became a consultant!

My medical expenses were a LOT easier to manage with that extra income, let me tell you! I even got the skills (and tools) needed to eat the way I needed to, since regular meals were off the menu. I learned how to cook in a way that worked for myself AND my husband, and I have Pampered Chef to thank for that, too! I can run by business from ANYwhere! I’ve worked on planes, trains, beaches and couches! I didn’t even need to drop my full-time job to do it, either. I’m mainly a virtual party consultant, but Pampered Chef allows us to chart our own course, whether it’s live cooking parties at the homes of family and new friends, or it’s vendor shows, fundraisers, or completely online!
