The Onion Cellar The Onion Cellar was a live Music Club which ran from the mid to late eighties in Edinburgh. A venue was needed and The Place in Victoria St was chosen.

The Onion Cellar was formed by Stuart Cant, Jeff Duffy and Linda Irvine in 1984. Frustrated that no one would put on bands that they liked they decided to bring their favourite bands To Edinburgh. The first band to play was The Television Personalities. A success ! Dan Treacy was keen that we continued to put on bands he gave a list of bands with phone numbers as long as your arm. Next up was The

Pastels. Another success ! And so The Onion Cellar began. The Onion Cellar quickly became Thee place to play in Edinburgh. The place to play and be seen. The list of bands that played there in their early careers is almost endless. Primal Scream, The Wedding Present, The Proclaimers to name but three. In latter days The Onion Cellar got so busy we recruited the help of other like minded troubadours, namely Angus McPake, Donalda Mcleod & Euan Mathieson
