Loading.."Tech Fest Famous"! Today’s musician is Olivia Bec Music ! Olivia will be playing Techfest on the 13th and we are VERY lucky to have her:
Olivia Bec, a long time alumni of PAA and Tech Fest, recently exploded out of her shell. With the help of Bill Bourke and the OCVTS Audio Program, Olivia was able to release her first single "Jersey" in 2015. The influence of 9 years in the industry and multiple sold out shows in the Asbury Park music scene have shifted and transformed her melodic, gentle tones into the dirty ethnic rock that she thrives in.
Bec found her sound with her most recent single "Hungry". The song reached its angry, ex-girlfriend audience online and opened a door for her creativity to shoot through! Bec and her band plan to reach new heights with this approach to modern rock.

We look forward to seeing her rock Tech Fest again!!

Hello! My name is Ashley Tatesure and I am a Senior audio major at the Performing Arts Academy. This school and program is so incredible and I am so sad it is my last year of high school! Through this school you not only learn your major and your other classes but you meet new people, new environments, and a new you. Going to this school has taught me so much about Audio Engineering and general life skills. It has made me view and appreciate music in a completely new way! Participating in school productions, such as Tech Fest, has been such a blast and major learning experience. On top of learning about how much hard work and dedication it takes to run a concert, I got to learn about lighting engineering! I never would have thought going into this audio program would lead me to learning and loving lighting engineering, which is another wonderful attribute about this program! There is so much to do, learn, and fall in love with! This program has shaped me into such a different person over these four years. I was (and still kinda am) a shy person but PAA has allowed me to be expressive and confident in my abilities and myself! I am so blessed to have had this high school experience and to have met so many amazing people on the way! Though I am super excited to finish college in the fall semester at Ocean County College and get my associates degree, I am surely going to miss PAA and my audio family!

Hello! My name is Emma Morgan, and I am a senior at OCVTS Performing Arts Academy with a major in audio engineering. I have always loved music. Music has been a part of my life since I was in elementary school. I have participated in private music lessons outside of school such as flute, guitar, and piano. I even got to perform at The Stone Pony! When I was a junior in high school, I got the opportunity to teach piano to my boss at the time’s children. I gave them private lessons in their home. I feel the happiest when I use music to make others happy. My students loved to see me every week and I loved to see them! That was when I decided I wanted to pursue a career in music therapy. A musical therapist uses music, whether it be writing or playing, to enhance mental and physical health. It is the perfect career, as it is a combination of my two passions: music and helping others. I will be studying this at Montclair State University as of Fall 2021. I will get a degree in psychology and a certificate to teach music, and hopefully have my own practice one day. Outside of school, I love working with audio for video production. Someone close to me owns their own freelance videography business, and I would love to continue to help them with production. My favorite part of audio/video production is finding the perfect sound effects to add to a video. I am very proud of the work that I have done, and I am so excited for the next chapter of my life!

Hi! I’m Mack Pray, a senior audio major. The audio program has been one of the best things in my life! It’s given me more confidence, a more well-rounded skill set, opportunities I’d never get anywhere else, and a huge family of other techies. While I’m sad to leave, I’m so excited to make room for the next class, and I’ll definitely be visiting whenever I can. Through this program I’ve been able to learn and do photography, stage management, I’ve been a stage hand, a Pro Tools engineer, and just about anything else I can think of. For the next few years, I’ll be attending the University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut as an undergraduate in the music industry major, and I’ll be earning my MBA at the same time through an accelerated degree program. I’ve been awarded over $32,000 from various scholarships and grants, and I’m still waiting on results for more. It’s been such a great time here at OCVTS and I can’t wait to see what the Audio program does next! University of New Haven

Hi I’m Sam Schucht and I am a senior audio major! I have been involved in the audio program for 4 years and honestly, it’s been one of the best experiences of my life. Walking into the hangar freshman year, I was nervous about what my 4 years at PAA would look like, but it has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience I’ve ever had. Since my freshman year I have been a part of all of the shows here at PAA. I have teched all of them except for Hindsight, our original show, which I was actually in the cast for! The audio department specifically has been my home away from home and I am going to miss it so much next year. Although I am not going into the audio field, this class has taught me not only about audio but about life. I’ve learned to be confident in myself, share my ideas, and never be afraid to ask questions! The knowledge I have learned about audio will carry me through the rest of my life in technical theatre. I am so sad to be saying goodbye to all of my beloved teachers and friends but I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me. Not only will I be graduating with my high school diploma, but I will also be graduating with my Associates Degree from Ocean County College. In the fall I will be attending Rider University for technical theatre on a Presidential Scholarship. I am so excited for this new chapter in my life but I am already planning on visiting PAA as much as possible. Here are a few of my favorite pictures while I was working over the 4 years. These pictures bring back so many amazing memories! Can’t wait to make more!

Happy Monday! Hope you all have a good week.
I’ve got a little over a week to reach or exceed my goal of $5,000 for student scholarships! Our students have so much talent and potential. Many of them are moving into great colleges. We are here to help them have a great learning experience with all the tools they need to succeed. Please share with anyone you know who is involved in the arts, music, production, education, and/or the giving spirit. We can’t wait to be back to hosting concerts for the community and showcasing our talents; but until then this is the best we can do.... have a little fun while training the students on state-of-art equipment and facilities. Godspeed! Thank you 🙏
