For too long, the Northern side of the Harbour Bridge has been out of the live music game. Sure, if you’re a rowdy youth with some cash to splash, North Sydney has for some time boasted some pretty pumping watering holes, but none of these has invited the raw, human touch to grace their bars, instead opting to chuck on a couple of DJs and letting nature take its course. Does this mean that, while
you can get your kicks, you can’t be a part of something new and visceral? Does this mean that original, awesome artists have to escape their roots and flee to trendy, inner city hangouts, grow ironic moustaches and speak in faux-English accents about how the North Sydney scene is “soooo high school” with a cigarette hanging limply from the corner their mouths? In short, does this mean there is no room for some kickass live music on our side of the bridge? Luckily, one group of young, frustrated music lovers have decided enough is enough and are dragging live music, kicking and screaming, back home. Chicken Town band nights are here. Bringing together the very best that the Northern Beaches and North Shore have to offer, Chicken Town is our turn to show Sydney that live music is not extinct in North Sydney… It was just hibernating. Every second Saturday at Alberts, come and check out 3 of our 6 resident bands, who will be bringing you something a little bit new, a little bit different, and ENORMOUSLY fun.
