What an incredible weekend for Lackawanna Trail wrestling…

Our Varsity team not only qualified for District Duals amongst several of the Lackawanna League powerhouses, but ended up taking fourth place out of the eight teams that did qualify!!

We then turned to Lion Cub action at Wallenpaupack at their NEL League Tournament Saturday and Sunday. And in true fashion, our kids showed their LION PRIDE! Saturday, in the Girls tournament, we finished 4th place… with only FIVE girls competing!! We then finished 3rd place in the boys divisions, only following behind Wallenpaupack and Abington Heights.

From Kindergarten to our Seniors, we are so proud of our kids efforts, they make us all proud to be LIONS!!

2025 District II Wrestling Team AA and AAA Championships Action continues on Saturday morning at 2 sites – AA at Honesdale; AAA at Wallenpaupack . The Consolation Semifinals will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the Championship and Consolation Championship at 12:30 p.m. Wrestling begins at 11 a.m. at each site with weigh-ins promptly at 10 a.m.

Tickets for Saturday’s action will be placed on sale on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. Tickets will be $6 for both students and adults. Be sure when purchasing tickets you make sure you have the correct classification and site. Adults 65 and over and Children 5 and under will be admitted free.

The Lions 🦁 took on Valley View in their first round of competition at the District 2, District Championships Duals at Honesdale. With a team score of 46-24, the Lions won their first round.

Joey Thomas started the Lions off with a pin, followed by Josh and Garett Fowler both with wins by decision. Carson Ware, Isaac Ryon and Demitrius Douglas all pinning their opponents. Mathew Schaffer and Riley Barruso finished out for the team both with wins by tech fall.

In the 2nd round of competition Trail fell to Honesdale.

The Lions will wrestle for 3rd place in the next round of competition on Saturday. Time and place TBD.
