She hosts West Coast Wednesdays every week at 8-9 PM EST on the mainstation of xltrax.com radio . DJ Sav Marie is unlike any other out there. She's as versatile as a versatile mobile DJ can get. She will play any genre, any event, any venue, any equipment or music medium. Her music library is large and has a DJ in charge! This woman knows how to and isn't afraid to use what she's got. Some hoard c
ats (Sav hoards cats). Sav Marie hoards music. Any medium, any genre, even if she doesn't really like it. Even if it looks like it might be broken (you can melt records theres gotta be a use for broken 8tracks and tapes!! - art! )
She's prepared to entertain at staple holiday events like christmas, new years, halloween, weddings, bachelor/ette and private parties. And has gone as far as preparing her music library for more obscure events like bar and bah mitzvahs, high school dances, ballroom, waltz and swing dance nights. She is a music hoarder though, it's no surprise "obscure" (*cough) music has a way of ending up in her possession. Invent a holiday, she'll already be prepared. More on what she plays? (Wow , you're demanding) Does a large current and classic karaoke hits collection and all the lyric videos to accompany them all do the trick? How about playing flute, trumpet, or clarinet? She has the original cheeseball "Candyman" album with "sugar sugar" and "muffin man" on vinyl. Come on! She collects music; audio equipment, instruments, even sheet music(*any borrowed from school or community band to photocopy that hasn't managed to return yet is still one day going to make it back and she'll sort it all and put it away for Joe from Maple Leaf Band and Mr. Wilkies from High School!!!)
She started Djing when with her friends gear and records at the age of 15 shortly after her first rave experience. For 8 years she didn't even have her own dj gear. Not even headphones (So rookie right? Doesn't she know DJs don't share needles?). She collected records and tunes and threw raves parties with her friends and played at those. Every chance she got, she would get her hands on a friends, boyfriends, exs, some djs she just met - set of turntables, laptop, speakers, cdjs, controller, records, cds, headphones, stylus... Any new toy or tune she'd convince you to let her play with. At the very least give a solid effort in trying to. Her DJ peers who saw something in her and extended a helping hand (or mixer) fed her passion for music and dance. Without her own gear though, she was not restricted to using her own equipment exclusively. And that helped her to be able to hop on any system, any genre, any time. "Triple-threat" doesn't quite fit; multi-talented almost captures it. She mixes all genres; sometimes all genres in one go. Her style? Is her own. Experimental is the best description of her mixing and music choices. You really never know what to expect from her unless she announces it.
